Uh, Joe... you do know that most news sites/services get their information all from the same place(s), right?

And you say commie like it is a bad word. Careful or we might think that you are a right-winged Bush-supporting nutjob.

OK, maybe I am not being clear.

If we have two sites, that encourages people to pick their favorite and post stuff there. If we only have one site, that encourages people to post there and only there.

The first scenario leads to information missing at both sites. The latter scenario ensures that information will be complete on one site.

I fail to see how the first scenario is any good for our community.

One forum does not mean your information comes from one source; the info comes from 291 sources, and growing.

how about the people that use only one ,,then you've lost all that info
and i don't understand missing
if it's there then it's not missing
because you have a problem with odsa doesn't mean everybody does
so there should only be one paper to read ,one newscast to watch, one radio station to listen too,
still don't understand missing, you can brouse this sight and find what you want but are uncapable to find what you want on a different sight
so the people in washington and southern oregon that i know that don't post here must be missing it as well,, those other forums must be all wrong too,,
there's too much missing info for me to handle
could someone close all the forums beside this one please

it seems strange in a country built on diversity and freedom that only one candidate would be what would be right for a community
i'd give up too if those were my beliefs
another good example, how many times do you watch the same story on two different news chanells yet not the same story with different pictures that leaves you with different views and different thoughts

Against my better judgement, I'll try to explain one more time: the "news" here does not come from one "channel." It comes from you, and me, and the other 290 members of this discussion board. The owners of the site don't control what information gets out. That makes it COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from a television station or a newspaper.

If anything, this forum is the television itself; wouldn't you rather have one TV that gets all the channels, rather than a few different ones that only get some of them?

OK, let me try...

When you go shopping, do you buy one thing at every store in town or do you go to a big box store like Fred Meyer or Target? At those stores, you can get most everything you need in one stop. Shopping is more convenient, and you're lessl likely to forget something.

In many ways, this website is like one of those stores. Many of the features you could not get on ODSA are now available here, in one place.

Scott, this is a good analogy. One stop shopping is great. I think that this analogy also illuminates the idea that there are other stores open and even other all-in-one stores to choose from. I find value in the websites of my local clubs, this regional site, and of the national (international) PDGA site.

I have found it a better use of resources to participate in and grow an existing community rather than creating my own. The ODSA forum served me well in that regard and now this forum does in its place.

Default it's all good

We use what we have available.
Some are good, some are better depending on our OP's.
I hope ODSA get's back up and running.
There are way too many youngsters on this site that either don't know or care about answering old disc golf trivia ?'s

Aboslutley!

I love FM, but I don't do all of my shopping there. Far from it.
But for many things, it's the first place I look. That's what I hope will become of this site - the first place to look for anything dg related.

you said it yourself,, target, fred meyer,, right there are two options
so one of them should close because we don't need both
there are alot of things i don't find here that were on odsa
and vise virsa
it seems to me the whole point is the other websight because your points are pointless
so what your saying is that odsa had nothing to offer should not have been up and running anyway
so why does tdgpa websight have links to odsa and other forums if this is such a bad thing

One great feature that you'll find here that you couldn't find at ODSA is very responsive moderators. What do you think is missing here? Just ask, and there's a good chance it will happen.

*I* do not think that it is a bad thing. I am the administrator of the Tacoma Disc Golf Players Association website. It will always be my preference to include links to other relevant sites and I will continue to include them. Viva la TDGPA!
