Clean Up Stub Stewart Round 2, Aug 11th 9:00 am

Hello Disc Golfers,

We are going out to clean up Stub Stewart Disc Golf Course again. We are going after brush piles and 13's fairway. We will continue wood chipping the waste pile on hole 11 walkout, then move the chipper to the 13th fairway. Parks is removing a few more trees that we have selected this week on 13 and we will be escorting the debris into the chipper or the 1 ton for eviction from the course.

At the same time another team of dedicated volunteers will be helping to remove all the debris on hole 7 green with the help of a ranger and the 1-ton. If time permits we will also try to collect debris that is scattered around on 7 & 8's fairway.

I will continue to schedule work parties two a month until we are ready to have a tournament out there!!! We are moving through the back 9 one fairway at a time. Parks is working on some other projects on the course like: Tree removal, stump removal, stair building, evasive plant removal and debris removal. So the more we do the more they will do!

What tree in the middle of the flight path?

NO CAN DO ADAM! If you are hitting that tree you are not hitting the flight path. I have seen plenty of basket hits and birdies on this hole both left handed and right handed.

When we complete the shorter raised green then that tree will also increase the touch shot that will be needed to stay close to the basket on the raised green.

Oh, there's just this one tree that both me and my left-handed friend agreed was an enormous pain in the ass. I don't know if either of us actually hit it, but it was just RIGHT THERE in front of us.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was this one:

Why you want to remove such a cool tree? The glow tree should stay or be moved to Trojan.

Oh that one, the one that Jeff Hagerty can't resist smacking with his spider about every third round. Oh yeah that one is staying! I mean its only 60 feet off the tee pad shouldn't be an issue. Last time I was out there that tree did not have a tree protector on it so it must be OK.

How about this we can adjust the tee pad to make the shot framed better by that gap to instill positive vibes into the thrower. Would any of you like to take on the project of tweaking the tee pad to accommodate the shot you would rather have!

The teepad is FINE. The problem is the tree right in the middle of the line.

Well we had a productive day out at Stub Stewart, unfortunately no disc golfers showed to help out. We had the help of a trails volunteer and camp host, two seasonal rangers and Steve Kruger.

We managed to clean up hole 11, removing large cut logs that were dropped on the inside corner, we cut branches off the trees near the basket area up to 6'6" and moved it all off the fairway. I think a lot of people are going to like the new changes on hole 11, it makes the corner easier to throw and there should be more ace runs now.

We moved down to hole 13 and the seasonal rangers went to work on the wood piles. They ran the chipper non-stop for several hours moving from pile to pile. We were able to chip up all wood piles on the fairway. Steve cut several branches off the trees near the Tee Box with a pole saw but could not get them all due to the pole saw malfunctioning. Steve also dropped a few trees on the corner and up by the basket. We opened up the location for the long placement by dropping a few trees and we had one of the seasonal rangers buck all the tree trunks. We were able to remove about 60% of the large logs but ran out of time and energy. So Hole 13 looks amazing with all the wood piles gone but a few log pile remain. The long location will really make Hole 13 shine and will push it to a true par four!

Next time we will finish hole 13 by getting those logs off the edges of the fairway and move over to the wood piles on hole 12.
