Well Jub that's certainly a conversation I look forward to! Especially if it

involves a certain brewery in south Seattle Sorry about the schedule

conflicts as that was one of the only free weekends at the Inn all

summer. Sorry you can't make it as we love having you!

Next time.

Passing on the Calapooia Classic and the DGOD Ace Race for this. Missing a Fernburner would be blasphemous...

Got an extra seat Sam....might have to pass on Ace Race as well. That course is too fun not to play again!

Entries coming in. Still 2 rooms at the Inn (truly the best way to Fernburn).

We will be down there this weekend. The plan is waging war on the ferny

giants, finishing the new pads and clearing the last new hole out so all 27

should be playable by next week. Also going to tweak last year's final 9 a bit

(those of you who played it, thoughts?)

...and of course throw the new Smokercraft in the big C and hopefully catch

some yummy fishes

One of my favorite tourneys of all time! If it wasn't wedding season, I would be all over it. See ya next year!

On the short list of long time Burners, you will be missed Chris.

I absolutely hate this but due to some recent developments and scheduling issues the Inn at Lucky Mud is regretfully going to have to cancel this year's FernBurner. Without going into detail rest assured it was a decision not made lightly.

Apologies to those already signed up and those planning to. I realize it's less than a month away and the timing could be better. This is not the end of the Burner, it will be back!

Needless to say we will be refunding all entries received. Sorry for the inconvenience folks! Feel free to PM me with any questions.

On a side note, the PTO mower deck I got seven years ago for $425, busted halfway through my mow last week. The deck was bought used and fairly used up even then. I've repeatedly busted it and have kept it patched together through the years. It's now near the end of its working life, in any event. The guy I bought if from paid $1200 new. The same machine is now $2650.

The course is still playable, though shaggy, and I will be trying again today to get the mower back going, as I bought what stuff yesterday that might allow me to fix it.

I see there is a used one south of Portland for $1150. That's more cash than I have at the moment. Since it's the same model, I would have some spare parts in the old one. Let's hope something works out soon.

well the best thing I got is a weed whacker. I could come on out'n whack away but I think it would take me about a year or so, and by then I'd be chest deep in grass!! Time for goats I wonder??

My repair took me an hour or so today, and lasted only about an hour. I am going to try to do it again tomorrow.

One of the wheels broke. The rim split in two from rust working inside it. I have built a new core and cut the center out of a pretty stout hand truck wheel and welded the new core with bearings into it. The trouble is, the center dip of the rim is too shallow to allow the 4-ply rated 410-350 4 tire to stretch onto the rim easily. I destroyed the tire bead getting the tire on and it failed. I will have to try again today with another tire, and can expect similar results for this incredibly hard job. I have days in this now. Some years ago, all of these finish mower decks went to solid tires. I checked on what it would cost to replace two of the wheel assemblies with the solid configuration on Wednesday and it would run me over $300 in Astoria.

I backed off on the pressure in that bulging tire and got all but maybe an hour of the mow completed. It was really a tough slow mow and the tire blew just short of the goal line. So, we're mostly good for a couple more weeks.

harbor freight has a good selection of cheap wheels and tires, they might have something you can make work

It took cutting the beads with the sawzall to get the messed up tire bock off of the rim. After an hour of struggle I got another tire and tube installed. It looks like I might get the mow completed, if nothing else goes sideways. Taking an early lunch and will give'r a try. I had to do a couple of repairs on the Inn's rider mower before I worked on the deck today. I wonder if any golfers will show up this weekend?
