Thumbs up Bryant Park 2011 Season

Bryant Park is now officially open for the season, however the Calapooia river has hole #1 fairway and part of the lower road under water (4/18). Most of the baskets were reinstalled on Sunday (4/17) with four more still to put in. The last four baskets will be back in the ground Tuesday PM (4/19) if the water allows... The holes along the Willamette (13,14,15) and a few others need waders or wading to play/navigate. So proceed with caution unless you don't mind the water & mud.
Also hole #8 next to the baseball field has been relocated across the road into the woods but has not been cleared yet.
More changes are potentially in the works for the Bryant DGC but not official as of yet.

Cheers
David

In case you were wondering it is the mighty Willamette river that got high enough yesterday and today to basically plug up the Calapooia river forcing some of that water into the park. Shoot portions of the park & DGC still weren't dried out from this winter before this present from Mother Nature. We have our fingers crossed that we won't have a repeat of last year when Bryant was closed for most of June...
The DGCA did not want to relocate hole #8, but our hand was forced as the softball outfield fence has been moved back 15' into #8's tee area. For safety sake there simply wasn't enough room left to keep the hole where it was.

Actually it was the the Willamette Queen Sternwheeler that is causing the water to rise. It is stuck on a gravel bar and they holding water back at Willamette Falls Dam in Oregon City to raise the water level to get it unstuck.

We were working at Keizer DGC on Saturday and the river started to fill the big pond up again. The water cut off direct access to basket 11.

Hey Dave, is there going to be a work party to clean up hole 8? If so when please, I will attend.

Default Much Better!

Bryant Park DGC has been drying out rather nicely. I was out there for a round yesterday afternoon with KC, RR and E. There still is water covering the path in front of #3's tee but it is not a problem to walk around. Still a little bit of water/mud near/in hole 7's fairway and water immediately behind 7's basket.
The course has emerged from winter in pretty good shape, though it is on the rough side right now. Well maybe it is always on the rough side. Use a spotter if you can and your spotting skills to track your throws.

New hole #8 has been cut in though it still needs 1 or 2 trees removed from the fairway.

I'll still side with Mother Nature with some assistance from the Corps of Engineers upstream from Albany for the Willamette's flow at Albany. Anything that was done at the Oregon City dam would have a minimal impact upstream at Albany.

The course is dry through out now! There is still some water at the base of the hill on hole 3 but it mostly effects the walk up the hill and not your throw.

Default Hole #8 Strategy

Anybody found a good strategy for the new #8 (pics)? Wow that tee shot is tight.

P.S. I just uploaded pictures of holes 6 through 15 to complete the photos section for Bryant on DGCourseReview.com.

Don't forget that 8 is brand new. We're still discussing which tree gets to find a new home...it's a big decision!

And Thanks!! for posting the pics on dg review...been meaning to do that myself for a while now.
