If I go this sounds like what I will do. I-90 at night is no good.

As for the disc option Bob my preference is always with TeeBirds so the Metal Flake ones sound pretty interesting as do the R-Wood Aviars. Just my opinion. I think this event will be pretty EPIC despite everyone's opinions on how things should be. Bob always does a great job running events and 4 Mound is always AWESOME! I too miss the days of 4 mound tourneys playing all 3 courses but Jumanji is pretty sweet in and of itself. I will continue to work on making this tourney happen for me and I am actually glad to see it taken away from the city courses - again just my opinion.

I vote for anything metal flake. Although a champ TL is pretty cool too. Too many sweet discs out these days.

Great options btw.

Good call. It has been quite a few years since I had to battle that I-90 traffic from WSU.

I was hoping to play a new course in Spokane that day as well but I guess not.

There's always Amtrack-- I might be riding that train.

The LCO is one of my favorite tourneys to date (just played in '07), and Four Mounds was definitely the highlight of the weekend. I am with those who would prefer to play multiple courses in general, and that was one of the unique things I raved about when talking up the LCO.

With that said, Four Mounds is a special place and I would rather spend the whole weekend out there if given the choice, especially if I was going to camp out. I can see this change really enhancing the 'festive atmosphere' that you often get at tourneys where folks are allowed to camp on site. That was one drawback of playing at 3 seperate locations, in my opinion.

Default Any ideas?

Losing the tradition of LCO is a little disappointing, but fairly reasonable in many ways. At least for this year anyways with all the work being done at the city courses, and not to mention the challenges it takes to make the LCO successful.
Maybe what the Spokane disc golf scene needs is some new blood to start running some events. People willing to take the challenges head on with a breathe of fresh air. People who are knowledgeable about tournament play, talk to a lot of other disc golfers, and can please them by taking their comments, thoughts, and plentiful opinions into consideration. Players who have the creativity to stamp their own ideas into such novel events. Imo, bringing the tradition back, probably in the form of a new event, would be a step in the right direction, and a huge service done for disc golfers. Can anyone think of someone to take on such a "prospect"?

Cory, the tradition is not lost, just taking a year off for the project at Highbridge. Originally in November I was hoping to use Downriver, Highbridge and Camp Sekani for the three course venue. Unfortunately that wish was to go unfulfilled.

As for new TD's Deron Van Soest is cutting his teeth on this years DRO and Nancy Morgan is working on the Women's Global. I'd like to get Simmeltron on the TD training wagon.

Next year the LCO will assume the tradition that has made it a great tournament.

It's definitely an honor to be mentioned, Bob, as I would love to become a TD down the road, but I admit I have a hefty way to go before I am ready to pull that off successfully and with style. While I am quite new to the tournament scene, I have been following it with great interest for some time and I am drinking it all in as quick as humanly possible in mega-catchup mode. This summer should be a great one as I plan to play and/or volunteer in as many events as my schedule will allow.

We can always use extra counters at the score table. It's a small commitment and it is where most people get their first TD experience. You are invited to join in at both the DRO and the LCO.

If I were to do this would I not be able to play in them or could I do both?

You would be able to play. You can not score your own division though.

Signed up for my first LCO. Thanks Bob and Gordy for making this happen. Looking forward to finally playing Jumanji. How does the camping onsite work? Do I just show up that Friday and follow signs to the course/camping. Should be easy to spot right?

Default Dear JR

Depending on how you register there may be a box you can check to prepay for camping at 4-mound. If you don't do that, that's fine. I'll have a list of any prepaid campers and I'll collect from those who haven't. The cost is $7 per person for the weekend . There is plenty of room but limited firepits. Firewood is included. Depending on conditions, you may have to observe burning advisories, but we have a fairly open and safe area for the campfires. There is lots of fresh cold water and there will be two flush toilets. You'll be able to wash up with hot water so long as the water heater keeps up. Bring a friend. Gordy

Thanks Gordy. I DID prepay to make things easier on you all so I will just try to get there Friday in the afternoon sometime and set up shop. Thanks again for opening up your land for us to camp/play at. Good times ahead!

Hey Bob,

Just curious as to what disc you went with for the LCO. I saw a three way tie so I figured you had to probably make a management decision.

Default Additional amenities?

Camper's accommodations are listed above in post#56. However, Bob has let me know that some questions/requests have come in about Four Mound providing conveniences that exceed what are offered above. ......Fair enough........When Bob informs me that some serious sponsorship support accompanies requests for amenities we can reasonably oblige we'll see what we can do. I'm sure the LCO can use some help to meet and beat it's added cash objectives.

Default While in town for the DRO

If you're in Spokane this weekend for the DRO and you're thinking about the LCO next month talk to Bob. If you haven't been to 4-mound yet and would like to sneak a peek sometime in the evening this weekend talk to me and I'll see if we can get you out there. Gordy.
