Ladies Ladies - please keep fighting

Tanya, for you, anything.

Searching for a handful of dependable volunteers. I will order player pack jackets for those that commit to volunteering before the cutoff date. Volunteers receiving a jacket will be expected to help all weekend. This isn't tough work but it is important work, and you'll be able to watch a whole lotta golf.

Please contact me if you are interested in volunteering.

Thanks for the shout-out Mike, you run a great event with the nicest volunteers/staff, a quick/cheap(ish) flight away from AK, and a great excuse to visit friends over a holiday weekend and see some fireworks on the 4th of the July!... well, no holiday weekend or fireworks this year, but it'll still be a great tournament

I can't wait. This will be my first FSO and my first time at Steilacoom, What should I know about the course? good for rollers? lots of elevation? windy? wooded? long bomb shots? what is the course like? Thanks everyone for your hard work to throw this tournament, even though this will be my first time I have definitly been hearing about it for the past couple years!

I usually try to refrain from telling people that you will need everything you know how to do in the bag when playing a course but because the two layout are unique unto themselves you reallyl need everything. BOTH distance drivers and tight fairway drivers/mids will come in to play a lot. Great courses and good people. Enjoy!

Make sure to read the tee box signs and dont throw to the wrong basket is my big advice. I'm hoping the TD will throw a couple of hefty bags over the baskets that are not in play. Its harder for some of us older folks to see that far.

It's getting close!!!!!

I will have maps and course specs posted after the Steily event this weekend (cut down on confusion). The Southeast course will be, pretty much, the same as 2011, but the Northwest course has a few adjustments.

Player pack jacket orders will be cut-off at the end of the day on May 31. Entries after that will receive discs for their player pack.

I still need volunteers. PLEASE - get in touch with me if you are interested in helping for the weekend. We have had growing success with this event, but only because of a growing volunteer turn out each year. PLEASE come out and volunteer if you're not going to play.

Thanks Kemi (nick name?) for the kind words. Sorry there is no holiday weekend this time. I like the event on the 4th of July weekend, but I know there are plenty of players happy they can finally play because it's not on a holiday weekend.

Hey Matt, it was good shooting a round with you the other day and I'm glad you had a chance to check out both layouts. How did you like Shelton on the way home? Great combo for a day trip - Steily NW & SE followed by a round at Shelton Springs - That's a good day!

Well, Matt's seen first-hand now, but JR is right - you'll need every shot in your bag during the FSO weekend.

Tee signs will be very informative plus every player will receive their course spec sheet showing details for every hole. I did forget to cover one basket last year and yes, unfortunately, there was at least one player that accidently shot at that basket. Baskets will be pulled or covered if they're not in play.

Showcase Final 9 for the top four open pros will start promptly at 1:00pm on Sunday. Come and check out the show if you're not able to spend the whole weekend. Wysocki put on a great show running away with the lead last year while Dion Arlyn & Andrew Rich battled it out with Barry Schultz for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th.

I am getting super excited for this event - see you all soon!!!!

Rideout! It was very fun to play with you man, I loved the courses and had a good time altogether. Shelton was awesome! very fun course, very hard, but fun. I hit chains on hole 16 (right handed turn over) out there and walked to the basket to see it had fallen out. But anyways FSO! I can't wait, got all of our housing set-up, and i've been practicing slowing down to make sure I hit those miniature lines on the wooded course. See you in a few weeks! thanks again for showing me around.

Rideout, so will you post maps/layouts here soon?
If I do happen to get out to Steilly in the weeks leading up to the tourney it would be nice to have a general idea of what tees and baskets we will be playing! Thanks in advance!

A course map is now available on the reg page as well as HERE

I will have all the course specs posted within the next week or so. Holes 3 & 4 on the Northwest Course are very new. They may or may not have tee pads and baskets by the time you play the course. Fairways are there and teepads are marked.

Sean-
I don't know of any nearby camping. I would do a Google search or something.

The Southeast Course is the same as 2011. The Northwest Course has two new added holes so, therefore, two holes have been removed from 2011's layout (holes 17 & 18).

Please remember - these layouts are Fort Steilacoom Open specific, so they will not match other maps. If you're out there practicing for the FSO, be respectful of people playing the standard layouts; they have the right-of-way unitl the tourney.

These layouts look amazing, I forgot all about the SE 17 monster, that hole is so much fun, just getting more stoked!
