... great service at the bathrooms and under the tree by the teebox for i think it is 16... but otherwise doesn't it feel good to just turn the darn things off?

Call them like you see them. Its hard to ignore the past even when people have paid for their mistakes. I think the experience in most people will always make them more cautious when dealing with that individual again. We have had pencil whippers is the community at large before and its never ended well after the incidents for anyone involved. I say just keep score on your own and then check them at the end.

Can any locals comment of the condition of the course.

1. Poison Oak fair or bad right now.
2. How wet/muddy is the area around 18, 1, 2 tee?
3. how is the fairway on 3?

I'm not a local, but I did play WB last Friday and Saturday.
It was also ~80 degrees on Sunday, so I imagine it dried out even more?
The course looks great. The grass is a bit long in spots.

PO - my assessment would be fair, not bad.
hole 18 - a bit wet/soggy on the middle/left side of the fairway, not bad on the right side near the rock path.
hole 1 - soggy in the middle/right of the fairway, foot path to the green is nice.
hole 2 - no issues unless you are WAY right.
hole 3 - fairway is a bit slippery going down the hill and a bit wet at the bottom, not bad.

There was a shorter placement on 13 (up the hill to the left) that I hadn't seen before. 8 long is playing tough.

Thanks Jim, will there be enough room for a tent trailer even without the hookups? It's been a long time since I was down that way and I can't remember the camping layout.

Snicker....

Seriously, though, if you can't get into the loud group camp side, you can likely get into the less loud individual camp side, even if you have to share a space, which I would highly recommend!

On the far side of the park there are individual campsites with fire rings and tables and plenty of room for tents/popups. These spots can fill up on Friday/Saturday since this is a popular park so plan to arrive early as possible if you want to stay there.

Lots of room, too, at the group camping area. Probably not as loud as it was in years past.

Kind of. There is a general store on the main highway - about 2 miles from camp. 12 miles away there is a Safeway in Roseburg.

I have never played Whistlers, is it generally windy there? anything about the course I should keep in mind while practicing at the field tonight?

Sweet. Because of this, I am going to bring the laptop and video camera to capture some of the Pro rounds. Should be a lot of fun.

There's a small one about 2 miles away, Whistler's Bend Mercantile. They sell discs, too! Remember to thank them for supporting disc golf!

Don't go to a field. Climb a nearby hill and practice throwing hard and straight and down (maybe 15 degrees below the horizon). There's a monster top o' the world shot you'll be facing.

There's another downhill throw with the basket a few feet from a bluff edge that leads down to the Umpqua. Don't throw too hard or high on that one.

Other than that solid approaches from 150-200' will save you strokes on some of the longer holes.

matty,

i was just talking about the wind factor with my dad the other night... and altho it really seems like this could be a very windy course being right on the river and all, i don't recall that it was terribly windy the two times i have been down there. certainly nothing like what we had at the Disc Go Ball, anyway.

my advice to you for Whistler's: enjoy the beauty and magic of the locale and always remember: safety first. this is not always a course where going for it is the smartest play... well, i would say that about any course... but that's just my game. anyway, i'm stoked for you to be coming down.

see ya sat. morning!
