The Ice Bowl is a series of fundraiser tournaments held around the World that has raised over $2 million dollars for charity in the last 25 years. Ice Bowl is a great way to help others while raising the profile of disc golf in our community! http://icebowlhq.com/

The EDGC Ice Bowl will take place the day before Super Bowl XLVI. Super Bowl Sunday is the second-biggest day for food consumption in America, behind only Thanksgiving. On February 5th, 2012, Americans will eat an estimated 30 million pounds of snacks including 1.25 BILLION chicken wings (yes Billion) and 70 million pounds of avocados in guacamole! On average, each viewer will consume 1,200 calories during the game. So come on out the day before the Super Bowl and burn some calories, have some fun, and raise some money for people in our community who are not as fortunate.

We have a goal of raising at least $500 and 100 lbs of food. This is a non-sanctioned, no-payout tournament geared toward having fun and getting you to spend some cash for a chance at glory and prizes! Please support the first EDGC Ice Bowl and join other disc golfers trying to grow the sport in our community while doing good deeds!

You would have to beat 60 years and 7 months.

BTW...........I picked up 10 cans of food at Grocery Outlet. 79 cents a can and each can is a meal in a can. For someone in need a can of Ravioli or Spaghetti O's can make a huge difference. YOU can make difference in someones life for less than two bucks.

10 cans = approximately 9 lbs..................91 lbs of food to meet the goal.

Players pack discs (DX San Marino Roc, DX Aviar, DX Boss), Official Ice Bowl trophies, the CTP contest basket and Ice Bowl swag have been ordered and things are shaping up nicely for this fun day of disc golf for a good cause!

Thanks to some great sponsorship we will be able to have:

CTPs on every hole! - 9 CTPs for each division
Prize for the biggest food donation
Prize for the biggest cash donation
DFL prize
Prize for the player who traveled farthest to play
Prize for the oldest player named Bob (I think we have our first tradition)
To encourage more women to play tournaments, and celebrate the ones who do - all female players take something home - trophy, CTP or prize

And don't forget the 50/50 CTP/Basket Toss contest! $2 a throw - half the cash raised to charity, half to the person who throws CTP. Ace wins a basket! More than one ace will throw off for basket. No ace = CTP wins the basket, too.

Mulligans for $1, limit 5 per round, tee shot only, must use the throw.

THREE DISCS ONLY format for the first round - carry only three discs, no replacements, no substitutions - lighten your load and test your skill!

Well, you know how it is.....

So far I have 24 solid rsvps. I think this translates to 50-60 players, and I am hoping for 75 because that's how many players pack discs I ordered.

I think with some Mulligans you are in good shape to not be DFL. Andrew Rich told me he's playing left handed, you can beat that, Bob! Right?

Besides, you're already in the running for "Oldest Bob" and "Farthest traveled" and "Biggest Food Donation" - I think you are going to clean up!

Default Falling Sky

I am very happy to announce that Falling Sky Brewing www.fallingskybrewing.com is on board as a sponsor for EDGC Ice Bowl 2012. Falling Sky Brewing House will be opening in late January in Eugene and promises to be a great place for beer and food and more!

With all of these sponsorships coming in it sure does look like we are going to have ONE HELL OF A RAFFLE!!!!

And a $$CTP/Basket toss contest, and CTPs on every hole of the tournament, and a whole lot of fun!
