Default USDGC 2011 Or State Rep

Who has the means and desire to go to the USDGC this year? As its a handicapped event everyone 850 rated and higher is eligible. I would like to gather a list of candidates who have the means to go, and any input on how I choose who goes this year is appreciated. If next year returns to pro only, I will send our best player who is not already qualified.

Thanks,
D

Not that many people have contacted me so far. I'd like to make a decision before August 1st, so please send me a PM or an email at dionarlyn@gmail.com. If no one from Oregon can go, I'll just put myself as the rep in case I feel like playing it this year. I will be in Georgia the week before anyway.

Again, anyone 850 and above is eligable. All you need is the means and desire to go there!

Dion- I was wondering who was up for consideration? How many people have contacted you?

IMO- I think that we have enough disc golf clubs in OR that whoever was selected, we could stand behind them and help to get them there. This could be accomplished through donations and fundraisers.

I really want someone that hasn't been there and that would be a great representation of OR to have the chance to go. The way the format is this year--- this could be opened up to a great non-touring PRO.

There hasn't been much conversation on here about this and I'm wondering what are other people's thoughts are.

I know John O. would be a great candidate--- is he interested?

How about a non-touring AM, seeing as how the tournament is so different this year? I could think of some people...

As long as they would represent Oregon with great integrity and sportsmanship, I think that would be great.

We definitely need discussion on this---

Dion--I think you would be a great rep but I really feel someone else should have the chance to go. I also believe that the disc golfers of Oregon should back them up and help them get there.

I have to agree that Ollis is a great pick. He has done a ton of work at courses and is just an all-around great guy.

Anyway... I am boycotting the USDGC because of the format change.

Yeah since anyone above 850 is eligible, we should pick the best player with the lowest rating. A player who is on the fast rise and already playing above his rating will have the best chance to place well. In fact an 850 rated player who can put together a 950 rated round would be very hard to beat in this thing...

but it has to be a 850 rated player on the rise who can throw it straight and land in fairways and who isn't afraid to play super conservative golf

Default USDGC vote

I'd like to vote for Craig Nielsen from Portland. He's been playing well above his player rating and would be a great representative of NW Disc Golf.

He did. Saw his Facebook post about it nearly a month ago. Zoo Town Open, maybe?
