Default To Retrieve or Not to Retrieve. That is the question.

I say... "You keep it."

I'd Happy Gilmore that beast if it was something that I really liked (Z Ringer comes to mind).

One question though, where was that taken?

You need one of these:

You can reel it out to about 11 feet before it collapses.

This reminded me of a quote from Religulous (Bill Maher documentary)

Bill; "Wow those are nice shoes, what are they made of?"
Baptist; "They are alligator."
Bill; "Wow, how much did those run you?"
Baptist; "Alligators don't run, they crawl."

Back on topic, I'd say retrieve. I mean, whats more important, your life or a 20 dollar piece of plastic?

Disclaimer: I was joking. Alligators can outrun or out-swim anyone here. They crawl when they're in no particular hurry. Otherwise, I'd say they fly. Think of the fastest lizard you can imagine, now scale that image up. We have alligator shoes because they can't outrun bullets. They say sprinters are born, not made. Alligators are born sprinters.

Yes they are very fast. The problem being it's not the one you see in the picture to worry about. It's the one you don't see lurking around that is the issue. Still, the quote from Religulous is hilarious.

Yes, I bought the Religulous DVD.

I'm picturing the gator that is hidden just under Adam's tape measure.

A quick Google search for a ball golfer losing his arm to a gator will turn up some fun images of what happens when someone tries to fish a $.50 ball out of the water in Florida.

I got to live around a friend's "pet" alligator, from the time Grits Gator was 28 inches, until he was 54 inches. The amount of girth he put on with that 24 inches of length was considerable. I'd seen him jump from his plastic kiddie pool to the back of the couch, looking more like a lightning bolt. During that time, he'd bitten a couple of drunks who thought they'd give him a little pat on the head. Oh, snap! (I think that's the word.)

When he'd reached four and a half feet, it was clear my friend had to give him up, saying, "Alligators don't need, or want, friends. They know that someday they are going to be big enough to eat you, and they are very patient."

It took two people to tie up Grits for his move to the Woodland Park Zoo. That was over forty years ago. I think about Grits from time to time. Anyone know if the boy's still there, and how big he is now? He'd be in the prime of his life by now.
