Default December 31st - Ron The Whips Birthday Tournament (SuperClass)

Hello All!

I've always wanted to run a Super Class event, and I've always wanted to run a birthday tournament . So I've decided to knock out both my wishes by hosting a super class tournament event at Willamette Park on December 31st (the day before my birthday).

Information regarding super class: HERE

Information regarding approved super class equipment: HERE

Information regarding the event:

Willamette Park
Friday, December 31st

8 am check in
9 am Round 1
11 am lunch
12 pm Round 2
Awards to follow

Must have three players to form a division.

Cost: $25 ($3 in fees, $10 Players Packs, $12 payout).

Each player receives an approved Super Class disc (most likely a Discraft mold, although I may have some Zephyrs if Nate can hook us up) in their players pack.

An important thing to note is we may have to move to Adair, since Corvallis parks only allows Two events per year to be run at Willamette. Its my hope that we sneak under the radar, considering no one else would be out there, and I don't expect that large of a turnout. But nevertheless, it may be prudent to move out to Adair should the need arise.

Super Class is a fun format that helps equalize the distance and putting factors for a range of skill levels. Can't wait to see everyone out there!

Actually, December 31 would be my birthday tournament, not yours. You'd have to wait until Saturday for it to be your birthday tournament.

Haha, well happy birthday Ken! Hope you come down and enjoy some golf

Looks like Nate is going to bring a batch of fresh Zephyrs for everyone to pick from for players packs. As far as I can tell this is the first Super Class event in Oregon, and although its in the middle of winter, it should be a great opportunity for folks to experience the roots of our game.

Holes 1, 3, 5, 10, 17, 18 play more like par fours with Super Class discs. Turning Willamette Park in to a legitimate Par 60 course! Can't wait

Will this be a PDGA Sanctioned event?

PDGA has a special Super Class Ratings list.

RTW'S B-DAY TOURNEY

Yes, this is a PDGA event. However, I am still unsure of how the ratings will work for Super Class. I know it is based off your current rating...but I don't think it counts towards your rating, but a seperate Super Class rating...I don't know...

Pre-Registration isn't required, but please alert me if you plan on attending. Either here on the forum, or by email (dionarlyn@gmail.com)

See ya there!

In the interest of historical accuracy, the City of Eugene ran a disc festival last summer that included accuracy, MTA, putting, and golf with Super Class discs.

So yours might be the first all disc golf Super Class event in Oregon.

In any case, sounds like a great time. Wish I could join you!

The Sky Pro seems to be the most similar.

Technical specs on all discs can be found at http://www.pdga.com/documents/pdga-approved-discs-xls.
Anything with a S in the class column are eligible for use in superclass.

Yeah, they are using regular ratings to serve as a base so they come out a bit funky because it is an indirect system, but has no effect on your regular rating. Until there are enough superclass rated players, the system has to rely on sharp disc ratings.

Cefire knows what he is talking about since he is the only person that I know of to host a Super Class event in Washington AND he is currently the highest rated Super Class player in the state. I won't mention who is the lowest rated in WA state........

Ugh... OK it's me.

This sounds like a great event, and I will do everything in my power to make it down for this. Just wondering, since it is New Year's eve will there be any fantabulous parties in the area for us "super classy" players to attend that night? Or are we all just invited over to your place Dion, to ring in the new year?

Well, you can go somewhere and buy some or just order online.

Are you sure you don't have any stashed somewhere? History says you have some before.
