Default SDGA meeting minutes 02/08/2010

Steward/President's report:

Jeff Crum - People's Park recognition for Kevin, Joe, Eric, et al.
Indicated we will look into 501c3 status.

Explained Steward title isn't very helpful when approaching businesses and potential sponsors. Called for vote to change Steward title to President in SDGA charter. Vote passed 12 yeas out of 16 present.

Tim N: Proposed investigating professional re-writing of charter to formalize mission statement and possibly meet 501c3 requirements.

Jeff C: Eric will be building a kiosk at HB 1, and possibly one indicating layout at HB 11 at a later date.

Listed Bressler's course regulations:
No erosion or chance to throw in water
No north peninsula (beyond stand of five or so pine trees) use at PP
No tree clearing, no messing with the land
No city funds
Nothing at Sekani until PP is finished
DR - city may dump gravel for us to spread in parking lot to repair
West Hills - can't go near pump house, need to stay above it
Buckets are okay at PP
We need Bressler to approve finalized design

Treasurer's report:

Gordy - through January, we have a balance $7024.22. Other money pending from weeklies, etc.

Membership Whip's report:

Kevin: We have 63 current paid members

Public Relations report:

Bob: Exposure on KXLY for PP

Side discussion: Its not our mission to "clean up" park, only to be good course stewards by educating golfers and being respectful of other park users and park land and indirectly be positive park influences.

Jaymie: Icebowl brought in 837 lbs. food and $1502 for 2nd Harvest Food Bank.
Thanks Eric and work crew (Tim, Troy, Tom, Bailey, Brandon, and others) for work at HB.
$66 host fee and $52 in disc sales at IB for SDGA.

Secretary report:

Nada.

Open floor:

Jeff: Camp Sekani is 109 acres and there is beautiful area earmarked for DG.
David Feldberg may be available to play Downriver Open.

Gregg: What will be done about deteriorating teepads

Gordy: Probably teepads in future

Stimpi: Finley Park has 3/8" interlocking mats that may be cheap and durable, may be available through Parks Dept.

Tim B: SDGA forum at http://www.nwdiscgolfnews.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=166

Gregg: DR changes first?

Jeff: Yes to DR first, finishing what we started.

Next meeting, March 8th, Luigi's @ 6pm.

Gordy: Should SDGA support $100 CTP basket for INWS? (answer lost in discussion)

Bob: City Cup at Four Mound will be the Washington State Championships for WSS this year.

Lyle: People's Park event on Feb. 20th prototyping 18 hole layout proposal by Joe/Kevin, will be $10 entry, payout will be donations
