Default Pretzelbowl dates

Getting ready to set dates for this, choose from the above dates.

All are after the Superbowl
February 15th is on the long president's day weekend - does this work or would that be a bad weekend?

Any other ideas for good/bad dates?

BTW - The plan for this year's PretzelBowl is an expansion from 12 to 18 holes. I've got a layout pretty close to ready which will incorporate a lot of the best holes from last year and will add a lot of new holes which I am pretty excited about. Overall, I'm thinking that the SSA will be several strokes harder this year compared to last but the course will still have a large mix of par 3's, 4's, and at least one par 5 (long 12 from last year)

I think there's a pdga "C" tier at Sumner Meadows on the 13th. I would personally prefer a Sunday but I'll try to make it this year no matter what day you choose. I just got a 193g Hero 235, maybe the PretzelBowl should be a Superclass event!

I voted for the 20th, no real reason really, other than I prefer not to play tourneys on holiday weekends--I like having the option to travel with the extra day, and I definitely don't want to miss the Pretzelbowl. Sheila told me about your dream-inspired epiphany the other morning, can't wait to see it manifested!

The Bigfoot in Humboldt is the weekend of the 13th - 15th. Not a huge conflict here for anyone but me and whomever wants to travel with me.
I vote for the 20th

Pretzelbowl is Andrew & Sheila's trademarked Ice Bowl event, held at Woodland Park. Last year was a blast, $10 to pay for the park fees and such, no payouts, one big division (for most folks), bring food/donations, and a pleasant demeanor. Oh, and a nice basket if you've got one.

From what I hear, it sounds like this year's could be even better than last year's!

Disc golf just for fun.

That's a new concept for me.

However, Woodland park would be nothing short of spectacular with baskets.

Ah, I forgot to add that last year's was actually sanctioned, so though there were no prizes, you did get ratings.

Actually, it was $9 to enter - It will likely be cheaper this year with cost spread over a larger field, we'll see.

Although I do strongly encourage everyone to help out with some $$$ for the charity we are raising money for. Only small portion of the entry fee is actually given to charity so volunteer donations make up the bulk of money raised.

Do I bet that a particular date is "due" for rain or do I go with a historically dry date? AND doesn't consulting this chart pretty much guarantee rain

It looks like the 13th is OUT b/c I heard back from Rideout, Sumner Meadows is indeed that weekend. Not many people seem to be down with the Monday date.

20th or 27th???

No matter what this tournament is a blast. Andrew do any of the dates above mess with our league? I have not memorized all those other dates yet. I will for sure make it. Any chance to play a casual round before the tournament to get a feel for what your thinking?

Yeah, it looks like the 20th may be the best date b/c of league interference! I'll confirm when I get everything set w/PDGA, IB, and Seattle Parks.

I'm probably not going to give up all my secrets to keep the playing field a bit level, but those who played last year will know many of the holes - I'll probably one version of all last years' holes minus just one or two.

Mayhaps you could start a new poll without the 13th & 15th as options, so the people who voted for either of those can voice their preference for one of the days still in the running... heh like a runoff election.

I don't care what date it is- consider me signed up. Last year was great.
Unsolicited .02- charge more, not less. $15 is totally reasonable. Name your charity, and either give them cash or do a costco run and donate it in the name of disc golf, or Pretzel.
Again- stupendous event last year.

It was a very fun event/layout last year! For those that haven't played any disc golf at Woodland Park, just know that it's ideal terrain for a disc golf course & Andrew did not disappoint with last year's super-fun design!! Good cause + good golfin'= good times!

I'd vote for the 20th and no Superclass at the P-Bowl, but I'm excited about that Superclass event that you're planning to run at Discovery Park, Edge-- Seattle's first Superclass event.

The only complaint I heard about last year was uphill GRASS tee boxes.

I would agree with you except that Seattle Parks takes 15% of all "entry" fees (~$162 if we charge $15 entry vs. ~$75 for a $7 entry). They can't touch voluntary donations which is why I'd like to charge less with the hopes that everyone will donate a little something extra.

What charity will the money go to? I love fun events and love to travel. Now if that Stuart kid is in, that makes it even better.
