Only every single PDGA member in 2008 who didn't opt out of the magazine with their 2008 renewal.

lol, i was justtttt about to post something on this... i think they should have just pooled their resources with pdga mag and made one magazine but like 16 pages longer... the current mag has too much advertising and too little data while flying disc had plenty of data but spread out into different areas of disc sports etc... lets see what happens..

Flying Disc Magazine is dead. When the pDGA undercut them (by bringing back DGWN) they lost their financial support. Good luck on the refund.

I have always thought having a mag that you new exactly how many to print of each issue would be the easiest money ever. Yes, there is WAY too much commercialism and not much substance but that's just the way of the pDGA. Same goes for the web site, does it support DG or a just shit bag of advertisers? I know they both generate profits but for whom?

Way off base. The PDGA provided every opportunity for FDM to be successful when they were awarded the bid to produce 6 issues of a magazine for the PDGA in 2008 but they constantly missed deadlines and didn't deliver. So after five late issues last year, in November their contract was not renewed for 2009. The PDGA did not want to do the magazine in house but no one else stepped up to provide a magazine reaping all that "easy" money. So, Rothstein reluctantly went back into production of the revived DiscGolfer for the PDGA.

FDM found some investor angel late last year and decided to go it on their own in 2009. They got two issues out which did get into some book store chains. But no issue has been produced since May and no one has heard from them since.

I know at least one advertiser who paid and got burned by buying an ad in the last dropped PDGA mag, thinking they were going to get that circulation base. It would be good if the organization could get settled on an official rag.

The current PDGA magazine has potential, but it will take some proactive reaching out from PDGA to find what the readers liked and want that previous mags had in the past few years. And then when more and more Disc Golfers are sending in good stories, leads on stories, and pictures, then I would expect more data and reading material to balance out the massive ads. Hopefully that is really soon

No one said the pDGA wanted FDM to fail and I too paid for a two year subscription so I knew of the problems. So, from what I experienced and you described I would call these growing pains.

I seriously doubt Rothestein gave up the contract so easily. My comments are more about knowing exactly how many to produce (only pDGA members can subscribe so it's a finite number of issues published) that would certainly cover the costs of production and then even if only half the revenue produced through advertising is still all gravy for said publisher.

Default This really Sucks

You think at least they should refund people money. I have a May $20.00 issue. With such pros such as Ken Climo as instructor editor you think they would take some pride in reprenting Disc golf. What a bogus mag.
Shit like this has to stop.

Maybe they're keeping the website up in case they can get a bailout?

I liked Flying Disc Magazine's content a lot, but obviously their delivery fulfillment was garbage.

I enjoy the current PDGA Disc Golfer rag, but if they could do FDM style content on time (minus the other disc sports due to the magazine's focus, obviously) then that would be fantastic.

A boy can dream...

I have filed a Complaint with the BBB. I do not know if it will do any good but at least I did somthing to put these people out of Business and not rip other Disc golfers off. I urge other Disc golfers to do the same and maybe somthing go will come of this. Happy Hucking.

Yea right....Rick has been waiting in the wings...ringing his hands, just HOPING that FDM would fail so he could get his hands back on the production of the PDGA official mag again.

This is surely NOT an excuse for the obvious failure of FDM to meet the agreed standards that they were suppossed to adhere to....its a damn shame they couldnt do it.

Im not going back into the "garbage" time line that took place WAY back in the day, when Rick was awarded the Mag the 1st time.

I was not awarded anything. I paid for a full year subscription, I recieved one issue. If this occurred anywhere else they would have to refund people money. Right. I quess because its Disc golfers I should forget about it. Instead of a cop put a pirate because I been Robbed.

He's talking about the Rick who runs the "Disc Golfer" magazine

How do you file a complaint with BBB - we all got ripped off last year, hopefully its not past the statute timeline...

You'd think the PDGA would have someone in court. Perhaps it's the PDGA that has the 'splainin' ta do to the BBB. Wasn't that who the members paid and contracted with? I don't know. I'm just an outsider whose friends bought an ad, expecting to reach the membership. I'm not even sure which magazine they bought the ad in, but it was dropped by PDGA before the issue with their ad went out. Wasted money for them. I feel they should be reimbursed by PDGA. How many different rags have they made part of their membership deal by now?

Sheesh...I guess I should write Ricks entire name, so as NOT to confuse people.

Oh, I know who "Rick ROTHSTIEN" is....and I also know that he had NOTHING to do with the Mag. that "Failed".

He WAS the publisher of the Mag. that we as PDGA members recieved, PRIOR to 2008, when the PDGA awarded it to FDM.
And is now "Spearheading" the Mag that we NOW recieve as PDGA members..once again.
