Default Columbia Park West master plan

According to an article in the Tri-City Herald, the cities of Richland and Kennewick are trying to come up with a formal plan for the future of the west end of Columbia Park, which is where the River Country disc golf course currently sits. The article says that "other ideas offered were a transportation museum to feature historic or unique boats, trains and cars from throughout the region, a nature learning center, a small amusement park, disc golf and an off-leash dog park." Oddly, the existing course is not mentioned elsewhere in the article.

It says on the Columbia Park West Master Plan web page that the current survey is closed; but there's an e-mail contact on that page, and there will be a public meeting on October 21. It looks like, at the last public meeting (PDF summary), there were a lot of positive comments about the DG course, and some suggestions that the course be expanded/improved. So I don't think this master plan process is endangering the course... but it sounds like there's definitely potential to make it bigger and/or better.

So, east-siders, send in your comments and mark your calendars for 10/21/09!

we had a large turnout at the previous meeting and im sure we will at the upcoming one as well. We are trying to get them to give us the old campground and the water holes we have designed on the B course permanently!!!
