Fun yet tournament beneficial?

So I know a lot of us enjoy distance competitions and speed comps at our tournaments. I've been considering buying a radar gun and a decent laser range finder. I think it would be something fun do to on the Friday before the tournament, a dollar a throw or something, all the profit going back to said tournament.

Personally I would enjoy some hard numbers for distance, pacing throws off only gets us so accurate and what not.

Thoughts?
