Default Pendleton, Oregon is getting a course

An 11-hole course is going in at Community Park in Pendleton. A work party is scheduled for Saturday, August 1 at 8:00 am to set the posts in concrete for the baskets. The eleven Innova baskets are ready and waiting. Concrete tee pads to be added in the coming months. I have not played the layout, only seen it on a map. At least two holes will have McKay creek in play.

Added it to the map.

Bucklander, is there any way you can get a hold of a copy of that course layout?

I'll post more info including a map as I get it. A story about the new course in the local paper is here:

http://eastoregonian.com/main.asp?Search=1&Article...ctionID=51&S=1

The story says nine holes, but I believe there will be eleven.

Pretty good article. It's got a few goofy patches, but they did their homework.

Not sure how long it will take - depends on how many people show up or how many pass out from the heat. Might be able to use a shovel and a level if you have one. We'll have a gas powered auger to make the holes....

The course is playabe. We are still waiting on signs how ever the holes are marked. There is a short and a long 9hole course. For the Long course follow the Holes marked with an 'A.'

So, is it 9 baskets, with short and long teepads?

What happened to "11 holes"?

It has 10 baskets and 11 tee positions
The holes are labled
1-4, 5/4a, 6/5a, 6a, 7/7a, 8, 9
still
The long course skips hole 4 and goes to hole 5/4a...
6a is its own hole and 7a is an alternate tee position making it about a 500' hole.
Both courses start and end at the same spot and share some holes. It was designed so you could play it as a short or long course. There is one manditory on the course (for safety) at hole 6/5a please stay to the right of it.
Currently the Tees are Natural. The plan is to upgrade them to concrete in the future once the city allows us to the funding (I believe) is in place.

I guess that would be good info to have
the tee for hole one is about 20 feet north of the SW 44th St parking lot and 10 feet west of the path on a google map.
Hole 7A is about 5 feet west of west 37th st parking lot

No map yet, but I will see what I can do with google earth.

I tweaked the position on my map, added it to DGCourseReview.com, and added a Pendleton sub-forum here.

The Pendleton Disc Golf Course is playable. There are a total of 10 baskets (4 of the holes have alternates) The course crosses McKay Creek 3 times. The longest hole is 7A at 550 feet. We are in the process of developing a course map which will be posted by the 1st of October on the City of Pendleton Park & Rec Web site and the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce Web Site. We are also developing our own which will be PENDLETON DGA. We are having a dedication this Saturday, Aug. 29, noon to 2 pm with hot dogs, coke, fee frisbee discs, games and prizes. A formal ribbon cutting will be in October, once the hole and course signs are installed. The course currently has all baskets marked with hole number and 4x4 posts at the proposed tee box site with numbers to match the baskets. There is no charge for playing.
The Association is currently represented by a 8 member board and is accepting membership. You can contact the association at rparker@pioneertitleco.net
