Indeed, the food was outstanding tonight: Grilled dogs & hoagie rolls, kraut, beans, green salad, potato salad, chips, lemonade, pastries, and more. Nearly a dozen GPBC volunteers showed up and cranked out the feast smoothly.
The weather was ideal once again. We had another FULL FIELD, and even after sitting out I had to turn away one unfortunate golfer who said he had been at the course all day, but had only just learned of League minutes before. He cheerily pledged that he would come early next week, and I recommend that you do the same!
The issue of casual golfers came up again, as the course was very busy in addition to League play. I will approach Albert about the possibility of closing the course for League (assuming we continue to fill), and at the very least I will get some signs posted to warn casual players.
Albert was hugely helpful in checking in players, Stumptown members Patrick & Lonell took care of the Bag Tag, and many players rendered additional assistance: thanks to you all. We are looking forward to the day when the Student Center A/V booth reconstruction is complete; but for now we are learning to get by better and better with the laptop (a real mouse and keyboard helped a lot this week, as did sitting out and preparing the spreadsheet during the round). Thankfully, we still have the projector, allowing us to display scores for those with acute vision, or good corrective lenses.
Week 3 was a total blast, and I hope we have 59 wonderful players show up next week!
Reminders:
* No alcohol, tobacco, etc. allowed in the Student Center, please
* No unattended children allowed in the Student Center, please
Thanks for playing Lunchtime League, see you next week! Never been to League? Consider this: the top 3 winners today were all playing in their first week of League 2009, and their raw scores ranged from under-par to par to over-par! They won $87.00 combined! Next week's ace pot could reach $114.00!
