Dead serious- be careful, they live in those bushes just short and right of the pin, and they are mad.
I will remember that on my round this morning.

The bees was framed! I'll bet anything that wasps were behind this despicable attack.

Par at Pier? I've never even gotten close. Good work, Grasshopper.

Probably yellowjackets. You ought to notify the Parks Department; they like to take care of stuff like that.

I just love that everyone is getting a piece of pier these days - I shot a -2 there last weekend for a PB but was only 3 strokes down from my previous...I'm thinking it was the signs.

Thanks for the new signs stumptown and co!

I tied my personal best at Pier this morning at +4. It feels good to know I have come a long way since February when I was hitting +30 at Pier.

-4 today with a double bogey and a single bogey at NAD on Red Tees with short basket positions. Also had two metal hits at the Ace Race which were my first two in the four years I've played.

Blah, once again I tied my personal best at +4. Things were looking good in the front nine and then after 14 it was downhill. I do feel better about being consistent.

Here's a different kind of personal....
I think I just had my best 3 tourney rounds in the 10 years I've been playing.
The EC 2010.
Here are some things about those three rounds...
They ONLY gave me a 3rd place finish- though the best I've had in years.
This was only the second time I've managed to keep all three rounds over 900 rated in 10 years!- they were all over 920. I usually throw in a mid-800 round to demonstrate my lack of focus.

I didn't play great, but I played in a way I rarely do- consistently.
I only had 5 birdies all 54 holes. With NO birdies my final 45 holes! Not one at Dexter!?!
Mostly I felt in control of my game- for three rounds. That's rare.
It's not a typical personal best, but it sure felt personal and it was the best I've played in a couple years.

So I am happy.

Thanks, Wes, that was encouraging to read. That is, especially for someone who is playing so badly, he has quit 2 tournaments due to lack of fun this year. I have heard other masters talk about reaching a stage where the body simply will no longer do what the brain tells it to, and I think I have reached that stage. Say it ain't so, Wes!

I guess I'm having the opposite year.
4 things seem to be different.
1. It's taken a few years of beating myself for not becoming a better golfer to actually learn to relax about my game. But that comes from NOT winning, not once, in 10 years. I no longer see not winning as failure. And I don't dwell on past throws. One of the advantaging to this aging thing is I can't seem to remember the last hole I played, so I no longer get down on my game because of a poor throw.
2. 10 months ago I got a 5 minute putting lesson from Tim S. Only about the placement of my feet. I paid attention and have kept applying what he said. I now miss less and, for the first time in 10 years, FEEL and KNOW I can putt. That's been kinda huge.
3. (For Gawain). 2.5 years ago I got laid off and went from working in an office to the first labor I've done in 20+ years. Other than being a full time vagrant that plays DG all the time, getting more exercise and getting in shape seems to be the next best thing. I don't feel as run down during a tourney as I used to. I know I've increased my power from what I had when I started at 38. There's hope. (Quit your office job and start digging ditches. You'll play better!)
4. My personal life is better. I am happier.

I still can't believe I birdied 4 of my 1st 5 holes (5 of 9) and then not one for 45 holes.

We're not getting older and lamer, we're becoming Legends.

Smile Played Shelton Springs Tournament

I got my best score so far on this course yesterday on this amazing, and very difficult course. I shot a 64 which is +2 from the amateur tees, but my overall score for the day got me first in the rec division. YAY!

Shot a personal best at Adair today with a 54. Straight par (or -1 if you want to consider 18 in the short a par 4)

48 at Willamette. 6 birdies. 0 bogeys.
It seemed that every time I was outside of the circle, a jump putt went in. And there were a couple of close calls on putts from 80-120' where I hit the cage or the chains without sticking.
Good fun.

Personal best would be willamette at -5 since I haven't been there in 2 years with no practice and a -2 at Bryant was solid Gold for me

I shot consecutive rounds at FDR (Par 58) of 56, 55 and 54.
The 54 would have been rated 998 at last April's Fool's Fest

Yesterday I shot a 68 on the Animal Course (Blue to Blue Par 67) at Warwick to finish 2nd and win $40.00 at their Monthly.

Not a personal best on the course, but on the field.

I broke my distance record today: my previous best was 432' (walked off) and today I threw 483' (walked off).
