Stay tuned for a NW Team Invitational brought to you by Dion Arlyn, Myself, and the other top rated pros in the area. Our plan is to make the top pros in each region the Team Captains and have a Matchplay format championship. Lots of time to plan for next year. Let's pool all of our efforts into one big event (instead of trying to develop 2 or 3 of the same style events that conflict or compete with each-other) I'm at the Player's Cup right now playing Match-Play with the best in the world. It's sick. (enough said)

Sounds good. It also sounds like you want to be the 5th committee member for our regional Club events? Let me know when you get back.

Is there a listing of all the clubs in the NW? I want to start contacting the clubs in the next week to discuss this.

We'll have to see what format you have in mind etc etc. This is something that has been years in the making and finally it's time.

We no longer have a Team Oregon for the SW Team Invitational in San Diego..... From day one we all thought it would be cool to make a NW Team Invitational to off-set their event. Please get in touch with me directly to discuss. If it is something that could work let's do it. It's my goal to make this a Regional Event and make a Team Challenge that encompasses all the NW.

This is a scenario I've had in my head for the 8 Teams..... Eugene/Willamette Valley, Corvallis/Central Valley, Bend/Central Oregon, Southern Oregon, Portland Metro, NorCal, Seattle/Tacoma, and Eastern Washington (Walla Walla/Kennewick/Spokane etc). 4 Pro Men, 2 Pro Masters, 1 Pro Women, 2 Adv, 1 Adv Women, 1 Adv Master.

The difference from the SW event is we are hopefully going to involve the Adv Players and 2 Women instead of just 1....... Ahhh, Dreams......

I really didn't have any thoughts dialed in about format. that is why I reached out here.
I love the idea of having all the NW clubs involved and playing each other. I also think we should have AM and REC spots. A club is to promote growth not just the top players. Those AM and REC players need to be involved.
My one thought is that we should have club playoff events for the open spots throughout the year so more club members will at least have an opportunity to play their way into it.
I am not sure how I feel about the PDGA ratings being a part of it.
The first committee meeting will be around the middle of December.
keep the thoughts coming.

I would actually join a club just to play in something like this!

There are enough dedicated clubs in the NW that this could quickly become a reality!

As Rebecca said earlier, this is an idea (club vs club) that has been discussed in the past and just hasn't happened. If it is going to be a club thing I think the first step is to present it to your local club (Stumptown for Kent) and go from there.
