Post Team Disc Golf: Preliminary Results for Week 6

First off I'd like to thank everyone for coming out to Milo today for Team Disc Golf!
Today we filled every card in BOTH rounds! That means we sent 15 cards out each round and played disc golf in some mighty fine winter weather. Some small wind gusts aside, when you get to play in sunshine in the Willamette Valley in winter you count yourself lucky.

Big thanks to Scott Searles for the chili and Vapor Trail for the dogs and burgers! The quaffers were flowin' and the camaraderie was showin'!

In the matches things got very interesting. Rockwood swept the afternoon to post another double digit week against the not-so Sassy Ones. Dark Horse was hard pressed to keep pace even with their beat down of Vapor Trail. Big Winds did their job of putting the wood to the Green Bowl Packers while Westside still got good points in their loss to Drunk & Disorderly.

This sets up a West Division showdown the final week where any of the top 4 teams could win this thing; only 3.5 points separate fourth from first. Meanwhile in the East Division the battle is for first/second and third/fourth.

Riverbend Park 1/18/08
Asshole Casserole 8 v Putt This! 5
Westside Slingers 5 v Drunk & Disorderly 8
Vapor Trail 2 v Dark Horse 9
Green Bowl Packers 3 v Big Winds 9
Good Bad & Sassy 3 v Rockwood Roughnecks 10

EAST DIVISION STANDINGS
Rockwood Roughnecks Camo Mike Neimi 45
Dark Horse Jeff Mittl 43
Putt This! Jeff Hemmerling 36.5
Drunk & Disorderly Celeste Scandiffio 35
Vapor Trail George Adams 26.5

WEST DIVISION STANDINGS
Green Bowl Packers Tom Rybloom 37.5
Good Bad & Sassy Jordan Lewis 36.5
Big Winds Victor Cervantes 35
Westside Slingers Jason McGrew 34
Asshole Casserole Kyle Art 27

What a great day out there Sunday. The weather, the competition, and the food were all anybody could ask for. Thanks to the guys for carrying up and loading my grill, propane, and stove.

I'm REALLY looking forward to Trojan in two weeks.

I believe Rockwood and the Packers will hurt themselves with a 6-5 Rockwood win. A big win by the Sassy ones (9-3 over Putt This!) and Dark Horse playing well (need a 9-pointer!) could set up the showdown Kel has been craving...

Wait. I thought we played Putt This? That's Pinkal's team, right?

EDIT: I get it. You're talking about the FUTURE!

I'm going to go get some coffee now.

So...

Dark Horse plays Westside Slingers.
Putt This! plays Good, Bad, Sassy
Rockwood Roughnecks play Green Bowl Packers

What about the rest? Who do the Winds play?

Not according to Hemmerling. I think Jeff thinks it is his team...

I was talking about the future.

We're going to play two matches at once with our disc golf superpowers

Putt This! is playing GBS at Trojan. We'll do our best to foil the best laid plans of other teams since we have no shot at first now.

PT is not really my team. I'm just the schmuck who makes the pairings and takes the heat for doing a bad job. This year I'm a lock for Least Valuable Player on PT with my consistently mediocre play. Oh well, at least I had fun.

So what I hear you saying is that I lost to an old man with mediocre play? Would you like to squirt some lemon juice in my wounds along with that salt?

Yeah, but do you think that you'll have recovered from losing to Arizona by then?

The Refs stole Seattle's SB victory from them last time The Stealers were in the SB, so I expect they will give the game to Arizona this time as a 'make good'!

Self-deprecation is good. And I am sure the Winds would have appreciated the initial thought.

I also believe that the Cardinals will win on February 1st. They will continue to shock as the storyline goes...
