I hear you. You might have noticed that there have been a few occasions where he has left the bait out and I have turned the other way. Not easy to not respond but sometimes for the best.

I think, overall, we'd prefer to see less Jub vs. Sam wars, but I don't think it's inappropriate in this thread, which is specifically about this site vs. ODSA -- a topic where Jub & Sam are on very different sides. So far the crap-flinging has been at least tangentially related to the topic at hand.

I agree with this. I think the arguing here is pretty germane. I also think that this website is very well run. I am not trying to badmouth, but NWDGN reminds me of the attentive touch that Bart used to run ODSA with.

I never met Bart but have heard people talk about the "good old days of ODSA" so that is definitely a compliment.

Oh I agree with it all, and that NWDGN is now the preferred DG site in PDX. I like the look, format, and that until it became a compare/contrast of odsa it even lacked this long standing pissing match. Let's face it, we all know it exists, but what does it say about us? That we would prefer to continue senseless fighting that will solve nothing, as opposed to a live and let live stance. Well shit, then I say lets kill every person related to someone who was a Nazi, or has grand parents who lived in Japan during the 40s and lets just let the Jews kill every Palestinian in Gaza, including school kids and be done with it. Hell, just off anyone who doesn't agree with anything you believe.
The conflict exists, the only way it will ever end is when the parties concerned make the commitment to educate their thinking and change. If that isn't going to happen, well that's fine too, but move on, live your life, do more good than harm and who can fault you.

To echo J-Man, I also have a fiver of yours, sir (Sam, that is).

The ODSA vs. NWDGN is just another in a long line of examples of where one entity had a corner on a certain microcosm of the intertrons, then, left to coast on its own more or less, another entity came along and usurped its lead position.

This has happened many times in the short history of the widely used intertrons, and it will happen again.

Lexus Nexus anyone? Dogpile? Hell, the m'space? I have a whole bucketful of examples....

Damn, no Oxford comma in this post. Maybe next time...

Please cite the stats showing Sam has nearly 50% of the posts. Doesn't seem like it to me, but I haven't looked at the numbers.

People still post info on events and post for other reasons on ODSA because some people are still using it even though it has been pretty diminished since this site came around. It is a crappy site, although it did get better when you took your diaper and left. So, you're saying that people who "bad mouth" a website can't use it anymore? And you're saying the people who use this site are "Douche Bags"? So you're bad mouthing this site, and therefore you can no longer use it, according to your own logic. Stupid, transparent, diaper-smelling logic yes, but still.

Funny thing is Diaper, if it weren't for you and your behavior ODSA wouldn't have had half the problems it did.

Once again, Jub isn't even close. As of this evening, Sam had posted 885 times out of 5957, or roughly 15%.

Total posts can be found at the bottom of the main forum page, and eveybody's post total is right under their name.

For that matter, if it weren't for Jub, Sam probably would not have been kicked off of ODSA and would not have been motivated to create this site.

Kind of true... It had been my goal to displace ODSA for some time as it was clear to me back when I was running it (and was told to remove ads I'd sold to Huk Lab and Next Adventure) that it was not the open site we needed for our community. Ridiculously, I was instructed to make money off of ODSA by charging TDs to list their events on the site. Yep... that's how we grow the sport. Milk the TDs.

Jub banning me - wrongly so, in my opinion - was just the final straw.

Now Jub will list banning you from ODSA as one of the many ways that he has improved the sport.
