I was his random doubles partner in the late 90s. He threw a sky roller that went at least 300 feet before landing (measured it).

Scott taught me the X-step at a clinic in Corvallis in 2001 maybe, never saw anyone throw near as far as he did at that clinic. He was the first top pro I ever saw throw and certainly inspired me to practice and play more.

Dude, dont fret you are heading in the direction of being the next "scott stokely" or even better than him. Chandler you might not realize it, but you have the makings of a true champion.

Jackie Chan(man): Check out the PDGA worlds DVDs (I have videos) where Stokely was in the final 9 (I think in the late-90s or so). Tall guy, about 6'7", really lanky, incredible whip (sorry Dion) from both wings, and appears to be a very polite, considerate guy (something else you appear to have in common with him). Check it out ... very good competitor.

I didn't know Stokely either, only stories of him. That's what I get for starting to play disc golf late in life. On the good side, I DO know ChanMan, and someday I can tell stories of my own about having golfed with and seen the kid when he first exploded on the scene.

I can't wait to tell the stories too! I remember way back in 2008 when I beat that Chandler Fry guy at his home course!

Stokely was the first person to break 600' and was an amazing golfer. Was one of the top 4 players int he world. When he came through and did the clinic here in Kennewick i was already throwing really far. He helped me out with some grip changes that would curb some of my power. He also showed me a grip that he used for distance.... My hands arent small, yet they small enough I cant use his grip. Next time I see you Chandler remind me and we can see if your hands are big enough This guys sidearm was absolutely nuts!!! The guy was 6'7" and kind of awkward but he could make the disc go forever!!!!

i was with Ed Dopplemyer and Nick Johnson at the 99 Am Worlds in KC. They had set up a clinic for us at Rosedale. They had a radar gun setup with the Tennis courts behind it. they had us about 25' or so from the net, well Scott was standing about 10'-15' away from the net when Ed let 1 go just a little late....it caught him right in the chest/shoulder...

He just shook it off and said no worries

You know how much that had to hurt........
