what I was hoping for was

I am not convening a committee to run one event. I am convening a committee to develop a strategy for a long term, on going, annual series of Rad inter club, Inter state disc battles.
My thought was to have this be a new method of creating some healthy rivalry and club pride on an on going basis. Something that club members really get vested in.
