PARK PRETTIFICATION - Forestry Action Committee is spearheading a project to reclaim and restore the Old City Park at the south end of Old Stage Road. A work party will be held on Saturday, May 23 beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, tools and drinking water. Participants will collect trash and pull weeds along Illinois River. Rotary Club of Illinois Valley members also will participate. The long-term goal is to rehabilitate the city property, and potentially to create amenities such as a botanical trail, disc golf course and picnic areas.
