This tree cutting is deplorable. Something really stinks about this. They should make a curved path. How would you feel if you were a 120 foot tree and they said you gotta go because we need a nice straight path there instead of a curved path?
Sounds to me that the Parks person in charge may be getting a "kickback" from the Arborist who is making a mint to take this tree down. Someone needs to investigate this further! I can't imagine the cost of removing a perfectly healthy tree would be less than making a curved path.

So how informed are you on this issue? Have you seen the plans? Do you know where exactly the path is going and how it aligns to the bridge? Do you know all the factors that go into the placement of the bridge? I don't; that's why I'm reserving judgement.
To accuse the parks department of taking kickbacks is a bit of a stretch until all information is on the table.
