Seattle SuperClassic - FREE PDGA C-Tier - Sunday, July 1st

"I always wondered why somebody wasn't doing something about that...then I realized that I was somebody"

Andrew and I are happy to announce that both the Sudoku Showdown and the Seattle SuperClassic will be returning this year!

Seattle SuperClassic

When: Sunday, July 1st - signup at 9:00-9:30 - Start at 10:00am
Where: 2 rounds at Lakewood DGC
Rules: Superclass!
Entry fee: $0 + personal statement to make positive contribution to our disc golf community (see below)!

Yes, the entry is entirely voluntary and both tournaments are going to be run through the PDGA's Charity Endowment Program benefiting Planned Parenthood - We're calling it the weekend for women!

Here is what we are asking from YOU:
  • Write an anonymous statement of what you will contribute this coming year to the disc golf scene (ex., clean up trash, participate in work parties, rehab a course you love, etc.)
  • Contribute as much as you feel the tournament is 'worth' to you, Andrew and I will cover the rest of the donation that PDGA requires

Weekend for Women! W4W :)

Is this a super class tourney? Will a super class disc make it over the water holes (when thrown by only an average arm)? If so, how?

I've always wanted to have an ultrastar distance contest.

PuttsRrad April 24th, 2012 07:41 PM

Some people CAN throw a superclass over the Lake :) hehe

cefire April 24th, 2012 07:43 PM

:) Yeah, we'll make some modifications to the two longer water holes at Lakewood - stay tune. Hole 1 will probably be in play though!

Superclass discs are big lids, like ulitmate frisbee's.

Yep, the big three discs that most people throw are:

Innova Zephyr
Te Moko
Hero Discs 235 Mold

Oh, and some of those crazy ultimate fools still toss around Ultrastars :)

Watch it there, sonny boy. I ain't foolin'!

Chuck Kennedy June 25th, 2012 06:01 AM

If you can find Blizzard Champion Zephyrs (which I heard were made), those would be legal.

cefire June 25th, 2012 08:48 AM

Yay! Champion Zephyrs!!!!! :trophy::trophy::trophy:

Already have mine ready Chuck! :biggrin2:

drkstr June 25th, 2012 09:43 AM

Hey Now Andrew ~ what weight do you throw on that Champion Zephyr? ~ and the other Super Class discs you throw?

cefire June 25th, 2012 01:27 PM

Mine isn't a Blizzard disc so its at 196 grams I think. I really only use it for flick sidearm approach shots because it is actually TOO stable and heavy to fly very far (imagine that!!!).

The awesome thing about superclass discs is that you really only need one - on a lot of my little road trips to play new courses, I just bring along a Hero 235 and score pretty well (for me anyway). It also really helps me enjoy the layout of new courses because throwing slower discs takes more planning to navigate fairway obstructions so you begin to recognize and appreciate course structures that you might not otherwise!

For the event, I'll have a Te Moko, Hero 235, Champion Zephyr, and another dx Zephyr for rolling. All of my discs are somewhere between 180-200 grams as these are the weights that they are mainly produced in although I have a lightweight dx Zephyr (140g I think) that really kicks in a tailwind :)

Thanks Andrew ~

The Sudoku Showdown II went off without a hitch. :yay: Read all about it here.

2nd installment of the Weekend 4 Women: SUPERCLASS!!

A few things to consider:
  1. Sign up starts at 9 AM at the pavilion near the Chainbanger'z concession stand.
  2. Player's meeting at 9:45. Start time at 10 AM
  3. We are NOT playing holes 9 and 10 (water holes). Instead, we will have 2 SURPRISE holes!
  4. We have a limited number of superclass discs for sale tomorrow, and Chainbangerz Lakewood has a few... so come early if you want one

sillybizz July 1st, 2012 05:58 PM

Thanks Sheila and Andrew for putting on another awesome tournament. I can't wait to hear what the total money raised for Planned Parenthood came out to be.

Now I'm sad though because I have to wait another year for the Superclassic to return. :)
