Pro Worlds 2011 - Who's Going?

Yeah, it's 9 months away. http://www.2011proworlds.com/

Even the official website isn't fully stocked yet, but I'm getting excited. We finally have a Worlds on the West Coast!

I'm 75% sure that I will be there. Who's going, where are you staying, what do you think?

Ok, so the excitement isn't exactly palpable yet.

looking into the total price right now. Lets see gas money, hotel for a week, food and so forth for a week....+ $60 dollars to be a volunteer? Better start saving now.

New brighton is the camping spot in santa cruz. There are sites that look at the ocean and are a bit pricey. This is the only campsite nearby and is honestly perfectly located since it is right off HWY 1. If you looking to be near DelaVeaga, the Beach, Santa Cruz, this is the campsite to reserve AHEAD of TIME cuz this is a hot spot. Locals might know of a better spot that I don't know of. I been to the masters cup twice and camped both times here with no problems and the bathrooms are very nice.

Ye, New Brighton is the best option for camping...issue is that it is also the MOST popular campground in the state system. It basically sells out ALL campsites on the day that they are reservable.
So if you are interested in staying here I wold suggest that you do much research about the day that you need/can to make your reservations and do not delay.

:whistler:

Or you will be..... :nono: :explode:

Pro worlds 2011 camping

Another campground option that is fairly close is the Henry Colwood Redwoods campground i Felton. This cool, small norcal town is a very short drive from Santa Cruz, has groceries, restaurants, coffee shops, etc...and also has a fun, short and hilly course named the Black Mouse. Fyi, Park does not allow alcohol.

jaggarrett November 30th, 2010 09:10 AM

The campground is Henry Cowell, there is a campground on the south side of the park off Grahm Hill road that is about 20 minutes to De la. It is about 40 from Pinto and over an hour to Oaks and Ryan Ranch. You could also camp in Marina, there is a private campground at Reservation State Beach. The sites are a short walk from the ocean and come with all the amenities. You would be 40 Minutes from De La, 30 from Pinto and 20-30 from Oaks/Ryan Ranch. No matter where you camp it is bound to be a great Worlds!

Provided the invites don't sell out the event, I will be going...Santa Cruz is my hometown! Born and bred! Preschool through college (UCSC)! It will be awesome to be back at my stomping ground and playing some top-level golf (hopefully)! Tacos Moreno here I come!

jaggarrett February 17th, 2011 09:25 AM

There is some good work going in at all the courses; De La will be bigger and badder than ever before.

I hope to be able to go...

Got a house in the De La Veaga neighborhood. 5 bedroom 2100 sq feet with a large deck and back yard. Guy says it's a long 1 wood drive from the dela veaga golf course so that means less than 2 minutes from dela driving.
4 queens, 2 single beds and of course unlimited number of air matresses. 2 washer and dryers. Wireless internet this time heh.
I looked at over 200 houses and this was in the top 5 for cheapness overall and had the most bedrooms as well.
$2700 from Saturday August 6th to Sunday August 14th, 8 nights. I am going to cap this house at 14-18 people so cost should be around $225 for the week, INCLUDING food and drinks like the memorial for those who were in the house in Arizona. That is just an estimate for now. Yes, santa cruz is twice if not three times as expensive as Arizona... something about a beach nearby, not sure... ;)

For reference, University hotel that Pro Worlds is advertising would cost $265 per person for 8 nights not counting food and taxes on the rooms which is about 10% so probably end up being a tad over $300 per person for the hotel rooms.
If you know people that would want to be in on this., Let them know. Deposit for the house has been made and $2000 balance is due by June 7th. So that means anyone wanting in on this should send me $50+ deposit asap via mail or paypal and then the remainder of the $225 by June 1-5th.

Sound good. Any questions, ask away..

I'm definitely going to be there. Whether I get in or not is another question! Volunteering would be ok, too, but $60 to volunteer, or $225 to play? I might as well play! Heheh.
