Horning's Hideout
North Plains, OR [Google map & driving directions] Number of holes: 54 (three 18-hole courses) Teepad type: Concrete on Canyon and Meadow Ridge; gravel on Highland Target type: Excellent home-made baskets (PDGA-approved on Canyon & Meadow Ridge courses) Alternate teepads: A few gravel tee areas on the Canyon course Alternate basket placements: A few on the Canyon course Open: 8am-dusk, year-round except during special events Cost: $3 per person per day (or $60 per year) Alcohol allowed: Yes Dogs allowed: Yes, on leash Owned/Operated by: private General information: The first course (Canyon) at Horning's Hideout plays through open fields and heavy alder forest, but the wooded holes all have well-defined fairways and little underbrush. Elevation is a factor on most holes, especially #13 (uphill) and #18 (downhill). The second course (Highland) is a "pitch 'n' putt" course where you can expect a lot of deuces. The terrain is similar to the first course: some wide-open meadows, some large evergreens, and some alder forest. Elevation is a factor on most holes. The third course (Meadow Ridge) is a pro-level course with an average hole length of over 350'. Most holes have doglegs, elevation changes, and lots of fir trees.
