Busted at Milo - heads up

It would behoove you to follow the posted speed limits in Milo Mciver State Park. 25 MPH is the max and it's 15 MPH in some places. The Oregon State Police are patrolling and shaking down disc golfers because there is "a problem with dope in the park." This can mean a ticket to the tune of $1000.00. Keep it slow and keep it safe.:shooting::cop:

Before the 1st round of the 2007 national Deaf championships at Milo, a guy from washington on his streetbike thought it be cool to weave the road down the hill at 60+ MPH... he wiped out in front of 2-3 cars into the grass on the side and limped the whole tournament... Keep it slow, plus there are spots where sun is in our eyes and we can't see much...

I think there was a fatal DUI there in the last month and the State Patrol was out in force last weekend...I doubt the increased enforcement will last, but it's always best to keep a low profile if you don't enjoy an occasional chat with the badge-bearers...

There was, around the first of August. I posted a link to the news article, but it is no longer available.

The best reason to play it safe out there is so you don't die in a duii-related crash. :nono:
But maybe that's just me.

Agreed but I would add high-speed crashes to the list of things I'd prefer not to die of at Milo...

Was the DUI fatal, or was it the crash?

erp September 9th, 2009 04:23 PM

Ahh, more semantics!

To answer your question, yes.

Me too - at least you're keeping me on my toes...

Now off to Rooster to do battle.

Scott - I noticed that Oregon live still had a story on the crash - intoxicants + speed + not wearing a seatbelt (even in the back seat...) I heard the person that got killed was the driver's uncle, but not sure...sucks either way.

About 3 weeks before the DUI incident my girlfriend and I were camping at Milo and saw a small sedan wrapped around a tree on the park road. It was bad enough to require emergency transportation for driver and passenger. It looked to be speed related...don't know if alcohol was involved.
