Illinois Valley News, 5/20/09:

PARK PRETTIFICATION - Forestry Action Committee is spearheading a project to reclaim and restore the Old City Park at the south end of Old Stage Road. A work party will be held on Saturday, May 23 beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, tools and drinking water. Participants will collect trash and pull weeds along Illinois River. Rotary Club of Illinois Valley members also will participate. The long-term goal is to rehabilitate the city property, and potentially to create amenities such as a botanical trail, disc golf course and picnic areas. That looks like an interesting area with the ditch and river running through there. I wonder what it looks like during the winter when the river river is running high?

Old City Park? Did they replace it with a New City Park or did it die because of lack of funds, lack of use, or environmental issues?

No idea; I just found it on a Google news search. But given the financial situation in Josephine County, death by lack of funds might be a good bet.
