  • Tips for Using vBulletin - Ask Questions here, too!

I will continue to update this thread as I feel it necessary.

    FOR REGISTRATION:
When you register, you will be sent an e-mail that you will need to open. (CHECK YOUR JUNK-MAIL if it is not in your inbox when you expect it) In it, there is a link that you have to click in order to confirm your registration. If you do not do this, you will forever be stuck as a "Users Awaiting Confirmation" group that can't do squat. Confirm your registration.

Registration is currently open to all without needing admin approval. We will monitor this and see what vBulletin has done to prevent the spambots from joining. If need be, we can close registration down to admin-approval and we can hopefully find someone willing to be the point person for this.

    PRIVATE MESSAGES:
Like other forums you are familiar with, this one will provide a pop-up when you receive a new message and/or send you an e-mail when you get a new private message. You do need to activate these things in your User CP.

ďI believe I can hit 18 greens, hit every fairway, you know ó Vision 54, which means you birdie every hole, thatís in the back of my mind. I want to putt better, chip better. That day when I hit 18 greens and one putt, Iíll know Iím a complete golfer. Will that ever happen? Iím not sure, but itís possible. The 54 vision is always in the back of my mind.Ē

    UPLOADING AVATARS:
Go to the User CP. Click on Edit Avatar. Click on the circle next to Use Custom Avatar.

You now have two choices. If the avatar you wish to use is online somewhere, you can just put the URL address TO THE PICTURE (not the page the picture is on) and it will work.

OR - and this is the method you should probably use - save the picture from the website where you find it and choose "save as" and save the image to your desktop. Then click on the browse button on the edit avatar page and locate the image and upload it to our server.

You will then have an avatar.

Weird, moments after my last post, I was involuntarily logged out and when I logged back in, all the posts I hadn't read yet were marked as read. Now I have to check the date and time to know if I've read them.

That used to happen to me all the time until I clicked to box to "remember me" or something like that. Maybe there is a default time limit or something?

No... if you click it, it will remember you. Bob, let me look at your settings.

All looks normal. Remember to click "remember me" when you log in - unless you are on a public computer.

Yes, the cribbage had logged me out, upon completing the game. I do not have the remember me box checked, and I have spent more time in other games and not gotten logged out prior to completion of said game. Curious.

A couple weird glitches I've seen here: In this Quick Reply form, as I run my cursor over the buttons in the upper right corner (bold, italics, font, etc.) this form box lengthens with each one of the buttons the cursor passes over. Also, the forum doesn't usually recognize the forums I've finished as "read." I have to click on the tools and select "Mark forum read."

Why doesn't my Password Manager work with this BBS? Is that just my browser, or is it that way for everyone? (I'm NOT switching to Internet Exploiter to make it work!) I bet dEuCeDrOpPeR loves typing that in each time.

I just discovered that you can double-click on to make it .

Hmm, the double-click thing doesn't do anything for me. I have the same issue with the forum highlighted as if there's a new post, even after I've read it. That's just on the front page though, if I go to the actual forum that supposedly has a new post, everything there shows that I've read it. Not the end of the world, but kind of annoying. Any reason for why this happens?

Double-click does nothing for me, either.

As for why it shows stuff as unread - that's because we changed the logged-in state from 15 minutes to 60 minutes.
