  • Chick Flick Saturday Mixed Doubles?

Hi all, I just signed up for the Chick Flick and am looking forward to a great time. I'm not planning on attending the clinics on Saturday, so I was hoping there might be some other couples interested in playing mixed doubles with my husband and I (Patrick) during the day?
Let me know if you're interested...

Mixed doubles sounds like fun to us! Count us in.
ďI believe I can hit 18 greens, hit every fairway, you know ó Vision 54, which means you birdie every hole, thatís in the back of my mind. I want to putt better, chip better. That day when I hit 18 greens and one putt, Iíll know Iím a complete golfer. Will that ever happen? Iím not sure, but itís possible. The 54 vision is always in the back of my mind.Ē

The clinics on Saturday are going to be very helpful. They will be split up into groups according to abilities, so the more advanced players will receive instruction in more advanced technics. The newer players will have instruction in the basics. What could be more fun than hanging with a bunch of other Chicks learning and sharing together. The mixed round after the clinics will be mixed divisions to give the new players their first tournament experience with other players who have played in tournaments before, so hopefully we will have enough experienced players to mix with the newer players.

Yep. That's what we are talking about. 3 couples in for mixed doubles over clinics. I hope we get more.

No offense to those running or attending the clinics. Some will just not be interested in them.

(sound of throat clearing) I do believe the course is reserved and paid for and therefore closed for the "Chick" Flick. I do understand that a round of mixed Male/Female doubles would be a lot of fun, but lets save that for another day. Patrick and Sam.......I bet your help would really, really be appreciated shagging discs during the "Driving Clinic". Shoot I think I'm being volunteered to do some cooking or food prep. Let's be men enough to fill supporting roles and give back to the ladies for all of their support to us over the years. It's only one weekend out of our disc golf lives, but will have an impact, with rewards, for years to come.

            That's Bobs 2cents!

I agree. Whereas I would also like to throw some in some sort of couples doubles, I will be helping out during the clinics - however needed. I am quite sure there would be time for such a doubles round at some point Saturday evening (did somebody say glow?). Besides, are there already enough women to run the clinics? Might they need some additional help?

Bob is right. This is an opportunity to help grow our sport - especially the women involved in the sport. Amy just mentioned the Chick Flick to a couple of ladies we ran into out at Leverich last night - and she stressed the clinics at the event. Hopefully they are able to make it.

While I agree that the clinics are worthwhile, this is my first tournament. I am the type of person you are all talking about. I have supported my husband for years, but this is my first foray into tournaments. We are all adults and I believe we can all make a choice as to what we want to do that weekend. I really want to have a great first experience with the tournament scene and I hope that we can all just go out there and have a good time. Let's just have the clinincs for the people that want to have the clinics and let others play the course that want to play the course it's not the end of the world for people to want to do different things.

Pat, or Pats wife, whoever it is. grt Pat to wear the Equity Man costume during the round and maybe that costume will help him get the caddy award? hahaha. Ive seen Pat in the Equity Man costume, not a pretty scene.

I am speaking on behalf of the Chick Flick committee, who happened to meet for the 6th time tonight in as many months. This thread was one of the topics we discussed. We have been putting a lot of time, effort and money into an event that we love and see great value in. We have a grand plan of what we would like this weekend to be. When we open the forum and see an event posted under the Chick Flick that conflicts with the schedule of the weekend, we believe that this creates a divide in our small, women's disc golf community.

Please either consider not playing during the clinics or play elsewhere. There is plenty of time to play later that evening if you and your partner would like to play doubles with other couples. You can play mixed doubles any day of the year and at any course. Please give the ladies one weekend to shine...there are 51 other weekends for you to play as you please.

OK. On second thought, I think that we can help out with the tournament and work with the tournament directors to maybe also have a daylight mixed doubles round. Clearly during the clinics is being frowned upon and I think we should do all we can to support the efforts and the ladies.

Thank you, Sam. We appreciate it!

Plus, we need Jamie to teach us how to throw those sweet anny shots!
