I also recommend for beginners to not throw champion plastic... dx and prod are much easier to control... I myself am quite partial to star...

Thanks for the advice (I think hearing the same things I've told her from another woman helped), She says she will try out some lighter weights. We also figured out that although she is left handed she throws alot better with her right.

Also don't forget about the Chick Flick coming up August 7th & 8th at Horning's Hideout. We will have clinics on the first day along with a causual mixed division round, and then on Sunday we will have a PDGA ladies only tournament. The first year we had about 50 ladies, and then last year we had about 75. All different levels from never played to open.

my amiga monica also is lefty but throws righty... there may have been a thread about that on here a while back, in fact... i hope your honey finds herself the right discs and becomes as in love with this game as I am (and sounds like you are, too...). It can be frustrating to be a lady trying to figure out her game with only dudes to compare yourself, too... at the same time, it can really drive you to up your performance and be stronger and throw farther simply because if they can then dammit so can you!

        peace,

Main Fairway is her TL (dead straight for her)
Main approach is her Sonic (heavy so dead straight again)

She also uses her Gator a lot for hyzers
Her surge is SUPER flippy and she rolls with it, or big turn overs
She uses her kite a lot too for shorter controlled turn overs
I just got her a 150g KC Roc that will be getting worked in.

All 150-class X Surges are super flippy; they're just like 150g DX Wraiths.

Uhlman~ buy your wife a Stingray. She wont have to worry about trying to force the disc to turn over.

150 stingrays are the best disc in my opinion for any beginner. I have introduced 3 people to the sport in less than 6 months and all of them hit it off immediately with the stingray. And of course when they improve, stingray stays in the bag for soft straight forgiving glide or turnovers.

My woman is out of commission for at least another 6 months, baby #2 on the way
But she told me the other day, she loves me for finding her the old school ceish pro leopard that has totally changed her game. She used to rely on a buzzz but now likes her 150 kc pro roc. She also went from a 168 putter to a 150 star avair.
Her bag has changed a bit in 10 months...

                    stingray, eclipse... light dx valk...

all good discs for beginners and very good advice for folk just getting into the game. it's hard to not want to throw the shiny, pretty champion or other fancy types of plastic when you are first starting out, but it is so important to throw the discs that fit your abilities, skills and strengths. I no longer have any desire for the shiny new plastic and have a bag full of such old, dirty discs that i get teased regularly by some of my friends... and between the two pinkies i lost out at trojan i am much more distressed by the loss of my old, faded star valk i've had for 5 years than the brand spankin' new hot pink avenger... oh, Pinkie! I miss you so!

Remember I told you that I lost ODDGC Champ Leopard at my town's city park.. so that is why I asked you if you have one in stock but you don't have the 150g but I like 150g Star Leopard better.

Here is my wife's bag (dont think I've actualy posted it):
                        167g DX Valkyrie
                        168g DX Valkyrie
150g CH Valkyrie (I know it's Champ but it's a good disc I almost didn’t give it to her except my arm out grew it. She actually gets great distance with this one.)
180g DX Cobra (what can I say I told her to find a disc that felt comfortable in her hand)
150g DX Stingray (got this last night)
180g CH Aero (what can I say I told her to find a disc that felt comfortable in her hand)

The Chick Flick sounds fun; we will have to see what our schedule is in august as my brother is getting married (not sure, when that is). She really loves this sport. We are still working on her throwing form however, once we found her correct throwing arm she has begun to excel. In fact, yesterday she threw a 39 on the 27 par 9 hole course here in Pendleton. With a little more practice, I think she will hit par within the year.

Thanks all for the Stingray recommendation. My wife can roll it twice as far as she can throw it. The first time it happened to her was an accident and she was upset then I told her that her throw was at least twice as far as she was making it go in the air. Boy does that disc love to roll.
