  • McCormick or Blue Lake, March 11th

Well, I have to be up in Forest Grove, OR on the 9th and 10th for work, but I'm hoping to play either Blue Lake or McCormick on Tuesday, March 11th. Would anyone happen to be available for a round or two at either of these courses? I'd love a guide. I'd probably arrive at the course in the 9-10am range. Thanks!

McCormick is in St Helens. Trojan is near Goble. Blue Lake is in Fairview. Each of those courses is over an hour's drive from the other two, and an hour plus from Forest Grove. All three courses are excellent. McCormick is tight, Trojan is wet, and Blue Lake is huge. And as good as those course are, Milo McIver (near Estacada) is even better. It is also an hour from any of those other courses, and well over an hour from Forest Grove.

I hope you had a good time! No one warned you that McCormick would be full all weekend with the OR Team DG Championships...?

Probably because no one ever asked for one. I think it is up to the course installer to request it, (or anyone can). But it doesn't just happen magically, someone has to ask.

*hah* Well, good thing I went to Blue Lake instead, then. I had a great round, and got to join in with a group of beginners (who also had never played the course before). We had to do a little wandering to find some of the holes, but in general it was very straight-forward. In retrospect, I think I'm glad I didn't try the course in the Summer.. that rough must be 100x worse once it starts growing. :P I shot a -6, which I was quite happy with. Hole 11 is quite a beast, though. :P Throwing lefty, I feel like it would take a fair amount of luck just to get into putting range after my second throw on that one. :P Hole 12 seemed a little cruel and unusual, as well. The group I played with was throwing their second and even third throws from less than 15ft. away from the tee pad..
