  • SDGA Public Course Management Retirement Announcement

To the local Spokane disc golfing community,

Over the last 14 years the SDGA has created the Downriver and Highbridge disc golf courses, maintained those courses, supported the creation of the Jamboree course at Camp Sekani and supported the disc golf tournament scene in the Inland Northwest. We've done this because of our love of the sport. We are proud of our contributions and grateful we've had an impact on the growth of disc golf in our community. *They say the only thing that is constant in this life is change and the time has come for the SDGA to retire from public course management and get on with the fun stuff, like playing more disc golf. Here are the changes that have transpired this year:

Spokane Parks & Recreation has adopted the Disc Golf operations at Highbridge and Downriver Parks that the Spokane Disc Golf Association has overseen since their beginning in 2000.

The SDGA has set up a Highbridge and Downriver Disc Golf Fund with the Spokane Parks Foundation.* This is an open Fund that anyone can make a tax-deductible contribution to.* Funds that are currently on deposit there along with any new contributions will be used to fund disc golf projects and expenses at those two parks and be under the direction of the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department.

Individuals who wish to volunteer with the Parks Department to help with their projects can contact Ryan Griffith at*509-363-5418.

The SDGA would like to thank everyone who helped in the creation and maintenance of Spokane's two original public Disc Golf courses and wishes all the best to those who now carry the torch.

Please also see the attached letter from the Spokane Parks Department in coordination with this announcement.

Thank You for your support all these years,
    SDGA

Welcome 2015 and another full New Year of DG at the DR and HB.....One of the best things you can do to keep DG in place and in good repair is to have your group or organization make a contribution to the Spokane Parks Foundation for the Downriver and Highbridge Disc Golf Fund. It is tax-deductable and at the same time you let the Parks and Rec Dept. know that you care enough about DG to reach into your pocket and help .You can take a collection at the event you host and let your players know there is a way they can help the DG directly. You can even ask yourself what this has all been worth to you and make a statement of your own. Let the folks you know know you care.
