Nice job on fixing it, you might want to take a wire brush and clean up the slag though, then spray bomb it to protect it from rusting out. Exposed welds will rust really quickly.
A bad day on the golf course is better than a good day at work!

Actualy what I should have said was "Boy I hit that basket so hard with an ace run that the top came flying off!!!"
            Easy fix, no worries!!

                    Right on :-)
Each of us has something we can give back to the community. Returning lost plastic, picking up garbage, or teaching newbs the rules. I believe in karma, and this basket has delivered to me 2 killer aces. I just had to fix it so that others may also get an ace! I was just spreading the love of disc golf!!!

I hope you were careful when welding that, galvanized fumes can be quite toxic. Otherwise, good job!

Yes I was very careful about that. I actualy made a few fone calls to some people for some input about it ( Sam ).
A friend that worked on the new Tacoma Narrows bridge cam thru with this information, along with a major warning about it. It can possibly be lethal!!

i have found its hard to weld on heavily galvanized metal
grind as much of it off as you can
and then you will still have to just keep burning on it for a while extra, to get good penetration
