Ok, maybe he's not a "master" chef, but he is willing and that has to count for something.

This work party will be tackling the back nine holes. While they are pretty rough right now, we're confident we can whip these holes into playable shape. We will be prepping the greens for chips, clearing paths and fairways of debris and trimming branches to open up the fairways .

So if you can make it, please gather at Hill Top Day Use Area promptly at 9:00am on 10/17/10.

Just wanted to bump this with all of the information. See you all there!

You guys and gals are awesome. Ever since I had to step away from leading this course install and hand it over to Coury Coates & Jeff Hagerty I knew it was going to be in good hands. With the help and support of Stumptown Disc Golf and its members this course will finally be installed. Now I only hope we can get a disc golf club installed at Vernonia High School and have this be their home course.

Now when you get to see the back 9 don't hate just enjoy the experience of playing in the forest. The back 9 is designed to provide more challenge for all skill levels. I did the rough layout of the back 9 but through the insightful experience of Coury Coates, Jeff Hagerty and John Ollis, the overall design has come together to provide a very challenging and rewarding disc golf experience. This is not designed to be a par 54 course!

I also want to let you know that Steve Kruger has put a lot of work into this course and has had many crews out there helping that are not even disc golf related. When you see him thank him and have a conversation with him. Steve is a cool guy and probably the most supportive of Disc Golf of all State Park employees that I have personally met.

That was an amazing work party. We had over 40 people show up to help clear the fairways and off fairway areas on the back 9. We managed to clear 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 and drop in the baskets for those holes. The collars were already in the ground waiting for the fairways to be cleaned up. We still need to get another work party out there in early November to work on 15, 16, 17 and 18. But huge progress today and the best bunch of workers. People picked tasks that suited their strength and work level and we made massive strides on those first 5 holes in the back nine. Now you can play 1-9 hop across the road and play 10-14 and then walk left back out to the road by 9's basket area and 10's tee pad.

Special Thanks goes out to Stumptown Disc Golf for sponsoring the lunch and for Jordan Lewis, Chris Graham and Bob Cabal for cooking up the lunch for the masses. You guys rock and refueled the work crew to then go out and play the holes after they had lunch. Without your guys support clearly we would have a smaller turnout.

Special Thanks also to Disc Van Go for sponsoring the event by bringing people out from various areas of Portland to work at the work party. This definitely strengthened our number and gave people a chance to contribute that may have not had the opportunity, due to transportation.

Thanks to everyone that came out and donated your time and efforts. You all can consider this course one of your own and with out your sweat and effort it would not be what it is today. I hope you have been inspired to venture out again to another work party coming up real soon. We will also ask Stumptown to sponsor your efforts again with free lunch!

What Mike said........+ how about the State Parks people? I had no idea until today that ALL of the Tee Pads were already in, signage in, anchors in, benches in, stairs where needed in. Without the help and cooperation of the fine folks at Stubb we wouldn't be near this close to having a fantastic new 18 hole course in the area.

Now, the guy that designed hole 14 (Mike), should be kicked in the butt.

Thanks to everyone for support of disc golf!

that was an excellent work party... let's have a couple more just like it and damn, we'll have a new course!!! everyone worked really hard, and like mike said, with so many people there it was easy to find a task to suit your skill level... me, i'm great at making piles of sticks and carrying piles of sticks and throwing sticks... so i felt like i did my part, too...

... lunch was great! hats off to the cooks, and thanks to cindy and steve for the donuts in the morning... next time i'm going to see if i can borrow a party perc. from a friend so's we can have some fresh, hot coffee...

... the course is tricky, but reasonable (reasonable if you rock an eclipse, anyway ) and so beautiful...

                                peace threw disc golf,
