  • 2014 State series schedule

We have streamlined this years series. With all the excitement of the summer we decided to load our events earlier rather then later in the summer. We also have more then 7 weeks between our last Qualifier at Yaktown (Now, two days) and the finals. This is to give all of you time to work out the logistics of attending the finals

It's been a dream of mine to unite the WA States/ Newland to our finals and "reunite the belts" so to speak. Well 2014 is when that comes to fruition.

This year is the 40th anniversary of the Washington States Championships/Doug Newland Memorial and it will be State Series final Sept 27-28 at FT Stelicoom

That link brings me to a page with a jpeg or something I can barely make out in my declining years and failing eyesight. Perhaps someone could copy the info and paste it here in this thread?

Why is Trojan in Glide, OR part of the WA State Series? Seems kind of silly. Don't get me wrong, Trojan is a lot of fun and I also might have read that tiny jpg wrong but I was just wondering what the point of an OR course was in a WA series.

You are never really playing an opponent. You are playing yourself, your own highest standards, and when you reach your limits, that is real joy.

I too was wondering this. How does this even make sense? Plenty of courses in Washington to utilize for WA Series golf. Using an Oregon course kind of seems cheap. Don't get me wrong, I play plenty of golf in Oregon but I'm a proud Washingtonian and believe a series called "Washington Series" should be held exclusively in Washington using Washington disc golf courses.

Trojan is 236 miles from Glide. And, yes, both are in Oregon. I think that is supposed to read "Goble," not "Glide," but the resolution is so poor it is hard to tell. Which is also in Oregon.

ALSO: The schedule that comes up when you visit that link [EDIT: now removed by poster] is labeled as the "2013 To The Core Series" schedule, not 2014.

How best to start? As a group we decided we needed to offer more opportunities for the SW WA players. Hence the Vancouver experiment and even thought it failed our desire was still great to offer something more in line with our guidelines

Next Where best to have it. Well The Vancouver courses are fine but not quite up to what we are hoping for. So where would be the best venue that SW Players would most likey like to play The answer was Trojan. Lookin gover the schedule and seeing that Trojan was only being used late in Summer also seemed like a good fit.
Lastly who would be a good TD for this event. Well we asked Miller first . You ask why Miller well he was the only wholesaler who would sell to us for our store. Basically he gave the series 13 final ~ $600 in sponsorship (the difference betwen retail and wholesale.) So we figured why not reward him for his belief in our series. He then asked Chadwick who also excepted

Thanks G for keeping up with this I will fix the rest later. Thanks for your patience

The document that links to is much more readable, thanks.

One note: The title at the top of the document still reads "2013 To the Core WASHINGTON STATE SERIES" but it the 2014 schedule.

Also, one question about Lilac City Open:

                at https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6k0...hhSUFWd00/edit

it says the LCO is on May 25 and 26, 2014. That would be in a Sunday and a Monday. I do understand that is the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

                But at: http://www.pdga.com/tour/event/16634
                http://www.discgolfunited.com/disc-g.../tourn_id/1135
                http://www.nwdiscgolfnews.com/forum/...may-24-25-2014
                and https://www.google.com/calendar/even...ca/Los_Angeles

it says the LCO is on May 24 and 25, 2014. (Saturday and Sunday)

                Aren't May 24 and 25, 2014 the correct dates?

(Perhaps you are being misled by the Google calendar entry, which shows the event as ending on Mon May 26 {I have no idea why it does that - that would be a Rideout question].)

PS: You can always find current schedule info at: www.nwdiscgolf.info .
