  • Spring Classic at Camas Hotsprings May 18 -- MT Points Series #4,Tri State Series #2

The Spring Classic at Camas Hotsprings will be held on May 18. It is once again a part of the MT Points Series, and this year it is also part of the Tri State Series, too. This is also a qualifying event for the Zoo Town Open presented by Missoula Prudential Properties. More info on that later...

The Knucknees' Basin course at Camas Hotsprings is a very unique course for MT in that is was built on an old ball golf course, which the owners still maintain for DG!! The DG course uses many of the old ball golf fairways making for some long shots over and across the rolling hills on the property. There are several (shallow) water hazards on the course to provide some intrigue as well as OB on most holes which really gives the course a lot of risk/reward possibilities.

    Schedule of Events

    Friday
10:00 till done - Course set up
    4:00 - 5:30 - Player Reg and Check in

All Am divisions will receive a players pack

As mentioned, this is a qualifying event for the 2013 Zoo Town Open. Anyone in any Open division and male Adv divisions are eligible. If there are no Open Women who buy in, the the Am women will become eligible for the spot. You must buy into the qualification before the event in order to claim the spot. The spots will be awarded to the male and female player who have the best total score for the day who isn't already registered for the ZTO and who bought into the qualifier. These spots are non-transferable. The $5 buy in fee will go towards the ZTO ebtry fees for the 2 people who qualify

There is a hotsprings pool on site to soak all those OB strokes away that is truly glorious!!! Cost is $5 per person per day.

Camping is available on site for $5 per person. There are also a few cabins for rent on site for $25 per nite. They are pretty basic cabins with just a bed and a heater, but they are warm and dry!! Contact Leroy at 406 741 5140 to reserve a cabin.

For those looking for more of a party and tourist feel, Symes Hotsprings is only a few blocks away. They have 3 large hotspring pools, fine food, and live music on most Saturday nites. http://symeshotsprings.com/

For those looking for a quieter place to stay, Alameada's Hotsprings is right across the street from the course and also has a hotspring pool (in a geodesic dome) and hotsprings water piped into the rooms. They have the best homemade cinamin rolls, too!!! http://www.alamedashotsprings.com/

I misunderstood the owners. Dogs are allowed in the parking and camping areas on leash ONLY. No dogs allowed on the course or in the hotsprings pool area.

I'll be there for sure, is it the same as Libby? Can I pay when I get there that Friday and reserve my spot now?

Pre reg is (finally) up on the PDGA site. Help a TD out and register early!! If you don't online register, if at all possible be there on Friday to sign up.

A reminder that this event is a ZTO qualifier!! Cost is $5 and all divisions are eligible except for Rec and Am Women who will be playing the short tees both rounds. The best finishing male and female players who have not already registered for the ZTO will earn the spot with the $5 buy in going towards their entry fees.

As I mentioned above, due to feedback at last nite's Tags, the Intermediate division will play the long tees the second round. Only Rec and Am Women will play the short tees for the second round.

A sample agenda for those who haven't been to the Knucknees' Basin course before:

            5:30 Friday dubs
Post dubs - Soak in the partially covered cement hotsprings pool with some of the highest mineral content in the world!!
            Saturday
            6:30 - pre tourney soak
            9:00 ish - round 1
            Lunch break - soak
            second round
            Awards
            post tourney - soak

The water is that good!! Please remember that it is $5 per day per person to soak.

            See you in Hotsprings!!

If you've never been to Hot Springs, you've GOT to come see what you're missing. A disc golf only property, with camping on-site, walking distance to the whole town, and oh yeah an awesome, totally bare-bones hot spring. It is unbelievably peaceful up there. And the golf is really cool...links-style, par 60ish, tons of OB, and really well designed.
