    Portland Meadows

I just wanted to thank Dan Brown, Andy Verhoeven, Sam Gibson and everyone else who was involved in throwing this event together. The course was really cool and I had a great time.

Congrats to Leland O'Driscoll for taking it down in a three hole playoff!

Good times... I hope they let us all back in there some day.

true dat. it was very clear that a lot of work went into this and i was very impressed with the course... clever lay out, well done...

and i think that it is important to note as well that sam and dan and the whole DGOD crew had some pretty interesting snafus to cope with (ummm... race horses?) and still managed to keep things pretty much on track (haha! good pun... didn't even know i was making one...). really good job, boys and girls!!!

also, just think it's cool enough to mention that in a non sanctioned event there were four gals that played open... and a strong showing of intermediate gals, too, it's really nice to see and it's because of all you boys here in oregon who go out of your way to make us feel welcome (and it's also because we're super cool and totally kick ass). thank you very much.

I think that it would be a grievous mistake to not thank the army of DGOD volunteers who showed up to make this happen.

Andy Verhoeven. Dude... you are like the biggest cog in the machine. Without you, the machine simply stops.

Chris Schaich, Mike Gordon, Michelle Sawyer, Tree, Myers, JohnBoy... you guys ran baskets and string and laid flags... I am personally in debt to you guys for helping make what we have been working on for weeks into a reality.

Angie Zook and Noah Brown for helping with the raffle. And Angie for keeping me sane while we were running around with our heads on the floor.

And the people that loaned us baskets...
          Matt Kelly
          Gawain Stern (2)
          Doug Saulter
          Craig Nielson (2)
          Brian Riley (2)
          Ryan Gwillim and Firefly (4)
          Tree Sines
          Jeff Hagerty and Stumptown (2)
          Next Adventure (2)
          Dave Babuka

          And Jayne.

How about that lunch? I have had some good lunches at disc golf tournaments but this was about the best I have ever had. The pork was awesome as was the cole slaw... and the soup was AMAZING! And what more needs to be said than Red Velvet Whoopie Pies? Garcelon's Fine Foods. You can find them on Facebook.

Of course, the sponsors who stepped up to help out... Portland Meadows Race Track, Portland Meadows Golf Course, Next Adventure, Huk Lab, Stumptown DG and Firefly. Rick Jones made some awesome trophies.

Dan Brown... you are the man. We do things differently - obviously - but I think we are a great blend and I really hope to work with you on bigger and better events, even. Don't Stop Believin', baby!!

I will post the results later on today in this thread.

          2011 DGOD Derby Winners are:

DGOD! Does it again. Can't wait for the next event. Pictures are being uploaded now. They will be available for view on Discgolfscene.com by the end of the day! Would have been sooner , but it takes a while to upload nearly 400 photos.

Any Guess how far Hagerty's drive was? Looked like it was near the 150 yard marker on one of them. So was it at or over 450 ft?

No idea. Didn't get to see a single drive. Also didn't get to see much golf though I did make it a point to watch some cards play holes 1 and 10 - my favorites.

Its was about 440' or so... not too bad for a drive with a headwind.

The course at Stub Stewart has a ton of potential and the only way we're going to see it reach that potential is by busting our butts to get it cleaned up. So... if you are interested in helping out, we would love to have some help out there.

That's hole 16. One 2 on it the whole day from what I understood. Kirk McAllister drilled about a 120' putt that looked great from the moment it left his hand.
