  • BAG TAG CHALLENGE! -Eugene Disc Golf Club - February 22, 2014 - Dexter DGC

The EDGC is unveiling a new Bag Tag series for 2014, and hopefully beyond. The Bag Tag Series will consist of two tournaments; a Bag Tag Challenge, and a double elimination match-play event at the conclusion of the season. We will have high-quality metal tags in Gold (#1-10) Silver (#11-50) and Bronze (#51-???). Proceeds from the sale of Bag Tags will go to the purchase price of baskets for Stewart Pond (may the fates be in our favor). Buying a tag includes a membership in the EDGC. Tags will be available throughout the season from various EDGC representatives. Everyone from everywhere are welcome to participate. (this means you PDX guys)

Tags cost $20: $10 of that goes straight to the EDGC as a membership fee. There is no obligation to participate in any EDGC formalities. The remaining $10 will go to the prize pool for the end of season event.

Time and Place: Dexter DGC Saturday, February 22nd Starting at 9:00am. Last card can tee off no later than 2:00pm. (Show up early). We will be doing a rolling start to ensure that anyone who wants to play can play. Tag presentation will be the same night, at Hop Valley in Eugene, on First Street, at 7:00pm.

Format: Rolling start, flexible cards. All applicable PDGA rules are in effect. No 2 meter rule. One round of 18 holes. Lowest score gets lowest tags. Ties will be resolved through a diabolical process (I haven't decided. It could be number of bogeys, putting contest, paper-rock-scissors, etc). One division only.

Payout: There is no payout for the Tag Challenge. Winning the lowest tag possible is the prize (and knowing you are helping further DG in the Southern Willamette Valley.) However, your tag is your entry fee into the end of season tournament. Owning a tag that has been challenged for at least once is the only way to enter the match-play finale. The finale will be full of cash and prizes.

Any questions can be asked either here, or by email (fastest response) to

    Thanks so much everyone!!!

It is an honor to be a part of Oregon Disc Golf!

    See everyone on the course!

I'd like to give a big THANK YOU to Cory Higdon for arranging this Tag Challenge and Fundraiser! It is all too rare for someone to bring up a cool idea and then follow through and make it happen. Cory is not a "you guys should" type of fellow, and this Tag Challenge is going to boost EDGC membership, raise funds for new baskets, and provide disc golfers a whole lot of fun!

You DO NOT have to be local to get a tag! Contact Cory at the email he provided: and you too can support Eugene area disc golf, become an EDGC member, and have fun whether you come down for the season ending match-play tournament or not. More info, including pics of these sweet tags here:
