Part of the issue you may run into, is every time someone plays an Ace Race, they have to pay the full entry fee and throw the two new discs. The Ace Race rules say "All entry fees must be the same ($25 or international equivalent), all players must receive a player pack and use the new discs in it. In an effort to keep the event as fair as possible for all participants, no "seasoned" discs are allowed."
How many people will be willing to purchase multiple players packs if they're already playing the west side or east side tournaments? I don't know about the east side tournament, but I know that DGOD and ODW are making a full weekend out of it with glow and regular dubs rounds, the actual Ace Race, and a fishing derby. It'll probably be a pretty big turnout based on the past couple years and it may be tough to get repeat players unless they love the discs and want to buy more of the players packs instead of trading for the ones other players may not want.
... trading for the ones other players may not want
There are other ways to reach out. Two Ti discs might sell for more than the entry fee.
Ace Races are also fun, and some venues have more aceable holes than others. And, as Brody mentioned, some people can't make the scheduled date at Hornings (work, family, whatever). There can be many reasons for a person to enter two, or one and not the other. More options is usually preferable to fewer.
Brody, if you want to run a Ace Race, do it! You have two pages here of you talking about doing something in a thread meant for actual, live tournaments. I'd love to see you step up and throw a tourney, I bet you'd bring some good ideas to the sport. Just do it!
Totally! And... make it a random-draw doubles Ace Race.
DGOD to the rescue.... AGAIN!
ďI believe I can hit 18 greens, hit every fairway, you know ó Vision 54, which means you birdie every hole, thatís in the back of my mind. I want to putt better, chip better. That day when I hit 18 greens and one putt, Iíll know Iím a complete golfer. Will that ever happen? Iím not sure, but itís possible. The 54 vision is always in the back of my mind.Ē ~Annika SŲrenstam
I mean... it SHOULD be obvious... but then again...
Once upon a time - a few weeks back - a dear friend was dead serious when he asked if he could play Lunchtime League on Sunday and have his round count for the week. We tried to tell him why this wouldn't work for... well... a while. He still wants to play on Sunday and just needs someone to card his score. Say... maybe Brody can help him with that?
Some things are just not so obvious, I guess.
Sorry for the thread drift, but WOW, that's a new one, even for me. Isn't TDing fun?
