  • NAAC 2013 - Aug 24th & 25th

The registration for The 2013 Next Adventure Amateur Championship will be opening this Saturday, June 1st, at 6:00pm.

We are still ironing out a lot of details, but rest assured that the event will be run on the same level as it has been in past years. the only major change is that we are moving the event to Blue Lake for this year.

Registration is online only, and can be found at:

    NAAC GOLD (A-Tier) - MA1 & FA1:
    http://www.4discgolf.com/NAAC_GOLD

NAAC SILVER (B-Tier) - All other divisions:
    http://www.4discgolf.com/NAAC_SILVER

If you have any questions, the quickest and preferred way to get them answered is by emailing us at "tds |at| fireflydiscgolf.com".

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Current price is listed as $0.00. I assume this is not the case. Any ideas what it will be, or is that one of the details still being worked out?

Not trying to be obtuse, but I'm not seeing the drop down menu titled "Division".

It is on both links. Not sure why you aren't seeing it.

Will the format likely be one round per day with tee times? Thanks.

We are still ironing out a lot of details, but rest assured that the event will be run on the same level as it has been in past years. The biggest change for 2013 is that we are moving the event to Blue Lake.

Blue Lake is a championship level course located in Fairview, Oregon. Next Adventure and Stumptown Disc Golf played a huge role in building the course. We will be the first tournament at the course to use the amateur layout, which will shorten some of the longest holes and allow us to get in as much golf as possible during the weekend.

The player's pack will be valued at over $120 (retail). It will include at least 2 premium discs, a high quality shirt, and much more. The silver flight will play one round on Saturday and one round on Sunday while the gold flight will play two rounds on Saturday and one round on Sunday. All rounds except for the final 9 will be shotgun start. The festivities on Sunday include dinner, music, a raffle, the final 9 competition, ring of fire, vendor area and the awards ceremony.

Next Adventure once again will be sponsoring a gigantic Ace Pot (a $1,500 gift certificate to Next Adventure) and the final nine skins match, which is open to the four players with the best rounds during the weekend, regardless of division. Each skin will be a $100 gift certificate.

There is a $5 daily fee for parking at Blue Lake Regional Park if you don't have an annual pass. This fee is not included in your registration fee.

Next Adventure is Portland's alternative outdoor store. Whether you are a kayaker, climber, snowboarder, hiker, camper, skier, cyclist, disc golfer, or just someone who loves the outdoors, come visit us and let us help you with your next adventure

We love to play in the outdoors, and our goal is to make it easy for you to get out there and enjoy it, too! We want to get the right gear to the right person for the right price. Next Adventure has been gearing up Portland since 1997.

                        3 MA1 spots left...
I believe I can hit 18 greens, hit every fairway, you know Vision 54, which means you birdie every hole, thats in the back of my mind. I want to putt better, chip better. That day when I hit 18 greens and one putt, Ill know Im a complete golfer. Will that ever happen? Im not sure, but its possible. The 54 vision is always in the back of my mind.

Is there an ETA to start filling the waitlists for MA1/MA2? Both my wife and would like to attend, and although her division still has spots she was waiting to see if I get in prior to signing up.

...sorry to ask- our only alternative for a PDGA event is up north or I would just silently wait-n-see...
                            Par is irrelevant... ;-)

                              Really, Blue lake?

I must voice my disappointment in the choice of courses for the NAAC this year. The NAAC was the first sanctioned tournament I played in. The event was so well run that it spoiled me for the other tournaments I have played since. I had such a great time each year I played this tourney that it has become the one that I would camp in line to register for, if I had to.

After an attempt at a round at Blue Lake, to start to find my way around it before tourney time, I was reminded why I have not been back to this course since the first month it was open. $5 to park, and $45 in plastic gone by the 9th hole. This is the only course I have played and quit before finishing (without being forced to by time constraints), and now have done that twice. I am struggling to think of any other course, ball golf or disc, that requires you to hit every fairway, or take a penalty stroke, not to mention unlikely chance of actually finding the disc. There is almost always an area that is not the fairway, but is not necessarily OB. For all of its length and majesty, Blue Lake is also severely lacking in a very important element, elevation. My assessment is that this course is not built for fun, its built for pain. Whoever endures less of it wins. Kind of like a jalapeno eating contest. That is not what I look for in a disc course, its not what I paid $80+ for, and will most likely withdraw my entry.

Again, I believe the directors run a top notch tourney, and if anyone can find a way to make this tourney fun, they probably can. Sadly, I don't think I am going to stick around to find out.
