im looking at the dgcr page for lakewood and it looks like #1 and #9 are out over water
my question is how far is it to dry land?
my noodle arm is nervous just thinking about having to shoot out over it

Last I heard two of the water holes (Hole #9 and #10) had been taken out at the end of November. I am not sure what will be replacing them. It is possible that #9 and #10 will be played with temporary baskets. In that case, if you can throw 230 and play safe, you should stay dry. Hole #1 the carry is even shorter, but if there has been a recent wet spell before you get to play the shoreline can change drastically (~20' ). Good Luck!

Thanks for the tour gentleman, nice to meet you, sorry you could not stay, Mr. Anderson

Now I am ready to go

as for the water, its the trees, not the distance!

And the rest of the course, if I can remember to take the elevation changes into account, I will be ok.

is it always this quiet around here, this close to the start of team golf?
I figured there would be a little more "we are going whip your butt" going on
I cant really say much, because I dont know anyone well enough to really stir things up
plus all my sarcasm and dry sense of humor always gets lost in type

Matt,
I suggest trying to play a few rounds with Chris Gilberts. He is a very patient mentor in the game of disc golf. By playing a few rounds with him, I have learned how to talk while others are putting, opening "beverage" cans while others tee off, and how to laugh at you and not with you during the round. If he is not around to play with, Todd Bates can also be available to provide positive guidance.

Well said BA, and thank you. I would like to mention a couple of key points of my mentoring strategy that you forgot; A 4 or better means sign the basket. Make sure all benches have a "disc charger". And most important, never pay to park at Blue Lake.

And back to your regular programming...

The SSA for Lakewood is going to be right around 50-51. We will use 10 Rating Points/ Stroke for the handicap.

Any questions on how a Player's Handicap was derived can be answered in person at the Lakewood Event.

I'll have all the proof that I used in determining the Players' Handicaps with me at Lakewood.

We probably don't have to worry about me out throwing my rating.

Thanks Sam for getting this up and running. The new form looks great. I predict your data entry time will reduce by 40%.

Host team each week runs event; cards, meetings and collect/verify final paperwork
provide at least one beverage for gilby

Home teams will be responsible for filling out results sheet from their matches

Just a heads up about the temp hole situation.
Of course I want to start off with a SORRY for not having 18 permanent holes in play for TDG :(. But for those of you that have been playing LKWD its been well over a year that there has not been 18 permanent pads in play so....par for the course so to speak eh? There will be a couple of temp baskets in play that will eventually be the permanent holes. How lucky are you guys to play them before anyones else, and provide positive/negative comments to help decide if they are a good fit.
Also I will have a couple of breakfast specials for all TDG players consisting of:
A coffee/breakfast sausage, egg and cheese croissant sandwich combo or a
Muffin/coffee combo both for an unbelievably low price of $2.50 per :jumpspin:
I will also have a lunch special for those interested consisting of 6 chainbreakin boneless buffalo chicken wings or 6 mini marker corn dog nuggets or hyzerbomb ham and cheese hot pockets for the low low price of $2 per.
(double down for $4)
Keep in mind there will also be the regular menu items avail like 4 different types of dogs(meat and veggie options),chainbanger chili, plenty of salty and sugary snacks as well as a full espresso menu.
Chain break cafe, the only place where you can get "Fresh grounds before your rounds".
See you all Sunday:cheers::cheers:

Two proposed holes make 18!!! Yeah

Thanks to maintenance man extraordinaire Erik Illg for hustling them out in the early AM and then he played. Work and Play in the same day? Who would have thunk it.

Thanks to Keith for putting up with us. It nice to see some project process, looking at fences was getting to be a drag.

Thanks to Sam, Morgan and Gilby for their efforts in streamlining this expedition.

Thanks to Jordan for letting them copy you!!! This might be the only way I see a bunch of you people is at a OR Vs WA (Rose City Vs Puget Sound) Team Disc Golf Event

Teams of ten, 2 rounds, 6 singles-two doubles, Trojan the last weekend in April

Lakewood's two new holes one might stick the other not so much. Some sort of variation of the Teflon hole will survive. 3 different landlords keeps Keith's "living the dream" a reality.

Moose Update 7-5 over West Sound there is one of the 2012 loses leveled

Team Kitsap sets a fast pace out of the gate, Bangerz is second with group of three-five teams bunched together.

Week two: will round the first curve and start down the back stretch.

Lakewood rounds ratings are posted on the watdg website.

I've added a new stat in the results table, (Round Rating vs. Player Handicap). For for your viewing pleasure to see how well or bad your teammates did...... :nahnah:

Rounds ratings are posted on the watdg website.

I've added a new stat for this year, the (player handicap vs round ratings) result in the table for your viewing pleasure. Now you can see how well or bad your teammates did.

Thanks for all hard work on the number crunching

So I am looking at the results and it says I had a rating lower than what I started the day with
and next to that it says -1
Does that mean I had 1 throw more than my rating said I should have?

I hope you understand my question

It means that you threw one rating point under your rating, not one stroke under. Basically, with 10 rating points per stroke, you threw as close to your rating as you could have.

Yardbird
January 8th, 2013, 01:19 PM
The round ratings listed (983, 784, etc) are the what a particular round score was rated. These round ratings are used to determine the course SSA and Player Handicaps. If the course rating points per stroke was 10, then every 10 points would be equated to one stroke. If you scored 20 rating points above your Player's Handicap, then you threw 2 shots better than your handicap.

The (RR vs PH) result is what that round score is in relation to the Player's Handicap.

Since a Player's Handicap is very dynamic (formulas based by the ratings calculated for that player, including the round ratings from that event), there will be some differences in the result listed (RR vs PH) from what the Player's Handicap was noted on the scoring sheet from the event.

Whatever the case, the result listed (RR vs PH) on the table will be more accurate with the Event's included round ratings and consistant with all players that played in the event.

If you were curious to know, the only manual input variables in the Ratings Calculator are (name, team, pdga rating, prior league rating, current TDG round scores). All other values are calculated by formulas and are the same for all players.

now if only the rest of the team would do this, we might actually get somewhere!! in classic disc golf terms "we sure had alot of FUN playing" in my experience that usually means "not doing so well"

in any case, great job out there on sunday Matt you played well.
