Great, now let's hope it's a format worth playing this year.....
You must have played in the Intermediate Division last year. The format for the all Divisions (except Juniors) this year will be one round on the Hawk Course, one round on the Porcupine Course and one round on the Cape Fear Course.
Juniors will play two rounds on the Hawk Course and one round on the Porcupine Course.

I've been waiting for a 4Mound tourney to get back to that format for a long time... I Love It! I'm gonna have to try to make this one, missed it last year. I am guessing though that ZTO will be the following week so once again I will have to choose one over the other as both are unlikely:headbang:
ScottW
November 29th, 2012, 10:00 PM
Disregard my above post regarding the ZTO. It will be held I believe on June 22,23 so will not be on the back of the LCO like years past  I also heard a rumor of an A-tier at Farragut in July but I know absolutely nothing about this yet.
So anyway, yeah LCO and 4 Mound :cheerleader:

So why is the Lilac City Open only being held at Four Mounds again?
Because three courses can be played at one time with out having to travel. The logistics of running a multi-site event involves more hoops than I want to jump through.

So why is the Lilac City Open only being held at Four Mounds again?
Because 4 Mound is awesome! I very much understand Bob's logistical points with having it at one site, I'd probably try to do the same too though. I understand Stu's point but here's my opinion - 4 Mound is awesome and does cut down on travel time and confusion to some degree. I don't think Downriver is a multi-round tourney appropriate site and High Bridge certainly has its pros and cons (like any course I guess). Would also be cool to see Sekani included in future LCO's. I will say though that I had no problem with the old Country Cup - the name is a little more fitting. Keep in mind though that these are all just my opinions.

Four Mounds is a great course, but summer play isn't that fun out there. Its too hot, dry, and likely to catch fire. Although they try their hardest to get people not to smoke they never convince everyone. Four mounds in July or August just isn't very feasible. Although our Spokane courses can be fun you really can't beat those course, and they are on private land you can do whatever the hell you want (camping is so fun). LCO is Spokane's best tournement and I'm happy its held at the best courses. I will say, though I understand how hard it must be to get 3 courses and a final ten tournement ready, and understand why we don't play them all. I really love when we do have a chance to. It awsome to see even the big arms also get their asses kicked by Cape Fear Hole.

I do agree with that. It's going to be awesome to watch people get eaten alive by that hole. I cant' wait to see how many lost discs, fives and sixes happen there.

This Fall we've had a good deal of rain and it's my time of the year to take advantage of the moist soft soil....I've been going around thinning trees on the course and opening up spaces generally. We've burnt up several of the slash piles from over the Summer. I've got the landscape rake hooked up to the tractor and am going through the courses smoothing out bumps, picking up loose rock, tipping up rotting stumps and filling in the holes. All in all making a clearer, fairer field of play......The Jumanji records set by Mssrs. Leviska and Feldberg last Memorial Day will be safe for the time being and I guess we'll have to research the records for Porky, Hawk and Fear for this years assault.......I plan to continue upgrading the tees and devising some new hole propositions (there will be no Peckerwood this time around). ......Over the past Summer we also got our water system out on the far west side in running order so there will be running water available and maybe some sprinklers running. LCO will be in late May so the grass will still be green and just beginning to get tall and we all know what that means; mow, mow, mow yer boat. As usual we'll try to make this one better than ever. It's only six months to go! Gordy #21004

Cape fear. Teebird aiming at the rocks in the ravine to the right of the pin, thumber/firebird landing above the hole=3 No excuse to take any worse than a 4. The toughest part of that hole is climbing up out of it.. lol It's fun though. The wait is the second hardest.. Going to be a back-up unless you play it early.

Yeah but most of the Big Arms want to land on the green in one. The wind in the gully messes with most of those shots. I always played to the right of the hole and approached the green on the second shot. Going for the green on the drive almost always results in a 4 or more.

The city courses get their share of tournament play
DRO 3 rounds at Downriver
LCO 3 rounds at the Mound
Chump/Vader 2 27's at Highbridge
Now you can make an argument for City Cup
ScottW
December 4th, 2012, 04:21 PM
3 rounds at Downriver is painfully boring for me, that's why I don't play DRO - if the course(s) don't change then I lose interest. More then 1 round at DR is too much IMO. I still like the LCO at 4 Mound for now anyway, until someone is ready to coordinate DR, HB, and Sekani.

How does the Vibram Open qualifier work? Is it a spot for the Pro or Am Vibram Open or could it be for either? What divisions at the LCO can make a run at this?

City Cup this year had plans to be held at all three "city" courses, but the powers that be...blah blah blah
I hope this year we all get a taste of what Sekani has to offer. I enjoyed the Cup last year, and am looking forward to seeing some collegiate events hosted here in Spokane soon as well.
Spokane is stepping up proper like, and its great to be in the mix!!
Keep it up all!

Anyone in any division (Non-JR.) can compete for the paid spot. The spot you will be competing for is a paid entry into the Men's Open Division. We are setting up some Fund Raisers so that we will have some cash to give to the winner to help with expenses.

Big arm ams go for it. Pro's know to play for a three cause nobody 2's it unless you are a lefty or a sidearm player. Unless You never got the chance to practice it once and think you can.. That head wind is nasty!!

Thanks to all the golfers that came out and supported the Lilac City Open Fund Raiser. It was a great time even though it was a bit cool and a lot windy. I thought it was going to rain during the afternoon round but it was just too cold and we got about 5 minutes of little snow balls blowing by sideways.
There were three players that won entries into the LCO by being the best in their respective divisions on Sunday. Here are the results after playing one round on Cape Fear and one round on the Hawk;

The payout will be 1 paid entry into the LCO for each six paid entries per division at the Fund Raiser.
Ladies Ams Divisions only - One Paid Entry into the LCO for every three paid entries per division at the Fund Raiser.
Hot dogs will be provided for lunch, and we are asking each person playing to bring a Pot Luck item to round out the menu. $1 beers will be available.
In addition to the above skill based awards of paid entries to the LCO, the LCO & SDGA together will award one Pro and one Am a Paid Entry and 4 Mound Disc Golf Reserve will award one Paid Entry to the LCO by way of a ticket drawing.

Here's the skinny on the second LCO Fund Raiser to be held at 4 Mound on April 7, 2013 @ 8:30am.
Entries that are awarded at the LCO Fundraiser are not transferable. If you win an entry, you cannot give your Awarded entry to someone else.
For each 6 entries per division we will award 1 paid entry in that division. If 12 people play in one division, yes, two entries will be awarded.
We will be cooking Hot Dogs but are asking that if you play you bring a Pot Luck item to share at lunch
(beans, potato or pasta salad, fresh veggie tray, chili, chips of any kind, fruit, cottage cheese, etc.).
We will be playing Cape Fear in the morning and Porcupine in the afternoon.
$1 beers will be available at Lunch and afterwards.
There will be three Bonus Entries Awarded. The SDGA and the LCO together are offering One Pro Entry and One Am Entry that will awarded by drawing a name out of a hat. You must have played in one of the two fund raisers and you must be a current SDGA member. If you played in both fund raisers and are a current SDGA member you will get two tickets for the drawing. After the SDGA drawing the remaining tickets will be put in one bucket and 4 Mound Disc Golf Reserve will draw one ticket and Award one entry in whichever division you are playing in.

It looks like you got stable high speed drivers for the divisions with no arm speed. That just confuses their game. Road runners, TLs, and Leopard are great discs for players still developing their form. Those discs are great for everyone, but just kinda looks like it would be flipped.

I mean absolutely no offense with this Bob but I kind of have to agree with JP on this one. I thought the Advanced options were interesting and I didn't really pay attention to the Intermediate offerings until I read JP's post but I can't help but agree with him - that's just my 2 cents though.
Regardless though, I am planning on playing the LCO this year and am looking forward to another great event by Bob and the SDGA. I will sign up here as soon as I renew my PDGA membership. Thanks Bob for your willingness to put on another great event.

All of the Glo discs are Custom Fund Raisers (CFR's) and will be available for sale prior to the tournament, that's the way it worked out this year, it wasn't done that way on purpose. I really should start keeping track of who throws what so I can customize those player packs.:jumpspin:

We have a dozen or so who have checked the box on the regi form for the offered camping at Four Mound. For your information there will be a lot of fire wood available for your campfire and lots of it has already been distributed to the various camp sites. Depending on conditions we may need to regulate fires in the campground areas. There will be all the fresh water you need. I hope to be able to do something to upgrade the sites in general but as-is they are relatively flat and grassy and not too far from a facility.
The courses will be the real meat and potatoes:chug:.

At present smoking is allowed on the benches ONLY. Smoking while playing the hole is STRICTLY prohibited. During the tournament there may be some designated areas on the courses where smoking is permitted but don't bet on it. At this time the tournament has raised $2185 in cash sponsorship.
We're shooting for $2500+ in added cash.
All three courses have much nicer fairways due to the new comb-like attachment Gordy bought for the tractor.
We always have a great time at the LCO.
Everybody up here is primed and ready to play their very best golf.

Because Spokane's up and coming craft beer scene is starting to get really awesome and with you being from one of the best beer producing states in the US I am sure you would like to experience what other areas have to offer. Downtown is becoming the brewery district for sure and it's awesome to see. You should come check it out and you might as well sign up to play LCO while your at it :chug::cheers:

I am making my yearly kudos and plea to the considerate smokers and the oblivious smokers. With the possible smoking ban at FourMound for the LCO it will be even more difficult for folks to take care of their needs.
I'm still asking that regardless of where you may be allowed to smoke, you PLEASE consider how your smoke effects others who are extremely sensitive to it.
If you are allowed to smoke at tourney central, please don't stand up at the score table and smoke.
If (and it is highly doubtful with the dry conditions) you are allowed to smoke with your butt on a bench at the tee box, please make sure you are not keeping someone in your group from preparing for their shot due to your smoke.
I realize a majority of players smoke and most of them are very kind and considerate people. I also feel like the others are not malicious...it just doesn't occur to them their smoke could be harmful to people near them.
Thanks for trying...it means a lot :-)

1. As for restrooms, I believe Gordy is hoping to have his clubhouse bathroom ready... but if not, there should be porta sans available.
2. There is glorious ice cold well water available on site, all you can drink. :chug:
3. As for ice, the closest gas station/convenience store is an easy low-traffic drive (as 4 mound is out of the city) 8 miles away. Just past that is a huge shopping center area with a Rosauers and quite a few restaurants.

That is an error on the flyer. The A Pool is capped at 72, of course if 18 more players wanted in, that would increase the value of the purse substantially. We're at 47 pro competitors right now and need 25 more to reach 72. Let's see if we can get to 72 Pros before we are concerned about the proposed cap.

Four Mound provides lots of space in the mowed meadow area close to tourney central. There will be two porta-sans at tourney central and a cold water bathroom with sink in the Clubhouse. Campers will have all the cold fresh water they want from the frost-free bibs in the yard. There are about 11 fire pits throughout the camping area and there is plenty of firewood for them. Obviously the early arrivals will get first pick. There is also one larger firepit for a larger fire and it is stocked with larger logs to accommodate a larger crowd...... The cost for camping at 4-Mound is the same whether you stay one night or 3.......... or 4.............:chug:The Hot showers are at Riverside. :chug:

Quick question....after reading Bob's post yesterday about there being a bunch of open spots I told a buddy from the club who is an intermediate player about how awesome/epic this tournament is going to be and that you guys would be glad to have him....where is the post about it being an extra $30 and why would that ever be necessary? Casey the golfer in question sent Bob a text last night then called him this morning to find out he has to pay another $30 as a late fee for not registering online?!?!?!?! You just posted yesterday that online reg was closed but there were open spots and to contact you....so why is the $30 late fee necessary for an intermediate player and why wasn't it mentioned until he called you?

Pre-registration is open now at Disc Golf United (http://www.discgolfunited.com/disc-golf-tournaments/tournament-dashboard.cfm/tourn_id/687)
All registration will close on Wednesday 5/22/13 at Midnight.

There will be no Saturday Morning Registration!
Don't forget the LCO Fundraiser Tournament on April 7, 2013 at 4 Mound DGR
Entry Fees are;
Pro - $25
Advanced - $20
Intermediate and Recreational - $15

No offense to you or your friend Tyson but I think $25 as either a "late fee" or "mandatory sponsorship opportunity" is completely fair for an event of this size. I think if I ever decide to run another PDGA even I will have tiers of registration that will greatly benefit the early registrations and greatly affect the late ones. I think more players would understand the stance of the TD once they have run their own event. At least Bob is still willing to take registrations as late as he is, especially considering how many players he has to organize - I wouldn't want to do it. Thanks for all your hard work Bob, Gordy, Jamie, and everone else who is making this event happen.

No offense taken...I apologize if I sounded upset, I meant no disrespect towards the TD I know he's got a LOT on his plate and running a tournament of this size isn't ez, we just didn't understand fully. Sorry for being like "where's the post about that?!?!" :shooting: when i didn't actually read all 5 pages of the entire thread...honestly I assumed one of Bob's two posts Wed would have included that sort of information if there was a fee so my bad i guess...
Casey sent Bob a text that night around 11pm, so 10pm Spokane time, and then talked to him on the phone in the morning to find out it was an extra $25 and we just didn't understand why at the time. I think the whole last-minute sponsorship opportunity is a great fundraiser idea i just didn't know that's what was up because Bob's post didn't mention it OR that reg was closing at midnight..he only mentioned that online reg had closed and to contact him to get in..
We are both super excited for the tournament either way, I just feel bad that I hyped it up so much to the kid and talk him into going if he's immediately getting slapped with a $25 buzzkill :bricks:....oh well, see ya this weekend!
