Hey I have a lot of discs that I do not throw anymore, but are still in great condition. I would like to donate, trade, or maybe sell at some point. I was wondering if there is a good method of removing sharpie ink from discs.

Thanks,
Cindy :)

I've had mixed results. Sometimes acetone works like a champ, and other times it only fades it.

I've heard that you can scribble over the writing with a dry erase marker and then erase it - and both markers will come off. I have yet to test this method.

Hey thanks Scott I tried the dry erase method, and it worked pretty well. Actually though just using a pencil eraser worked even better. Only on the dx and pro plastic though not on the star or champion. Still looking for a good method to get the sharpie off of those.

I find that returning the discs to their actual owners works the best...:bricks::biggrin2:

I am the actual owner of these discs. They are discs that I no longer throw, and want to donate, trade, or sell, and I do not want my contact info on them anymore.

Do you have proof of purchase, receipts, photo documentation of you holding these said discs?
That reminds me, better take pictures of my new discs...

I only know that acetone doesn't work on FLX.

I haven't been in these forums for very long but it's hard to tell if Snap7 is trying to be funny or is just an ass

yeah, i figured he's just messing around, but it's hard to tell sarcasm when reading and not knowing the person.

Back to the sharpie on the discs, I just tried some stuff we have here for removing ink on plastic and it didn't even work for the champ plastic and I've never seen this stuff fail before. But I have found that after I lose one in a bush the ink must just vanish because I've never had one returned.

I've tried nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol (as in the prep pads), and just scribbing over it with a darker marker. Sometimes it takes more than one time to remove the old information.

Just remember - if you call him an ass to his face be sure to talk REAL LOUD.

I use Goof Off
http://www.goof-off.com/.
It will remove Sharpie marks instantly, new or old.

I use this to take the stamps off of discs too, if you want to dye a clean flight plate.
Be careful when you use it, it will remove everything it touches.
If you do use it to remove stamps, dab, dont swirl, or you will end up with streaks.
If you do not want to remove the factory stamp be careful with this stuff.

I always wash off my disc after I clean it with Goof Off, the stuff stinks, and I think it would wreck the plastic if you left it on too long.

When I first saw this thread title, I thought the same thing Snap did, that you were trying to sell stolen discs. :pirate:

Yes but when you actually read the content of the post you guys saw that they are my discs, so I don't get why it was ever suggested that I am trying to sell someone else's discs. Geeze I would never do that, and foutunatly I know everyone who knows me knows I would never do that. People really need to read though stuff, and not just fire off posts.

Or if you want to speak my language, just say heyyyy to my face, turn around and bend over, then point to me and then point to ur azz again... I'll either take it as you calling me an azz or....... but i'll definitely know you callin me an ass...:laughing:
What can I say, my doctor says if I get another Ulcer, I could die... *honestly, no joke, spent a whole day in ER after my 2nd Ulcer in 2005* so therefore, the health perspective of why I tease and tease and tease, even when it is so gosh darn retarded and DRY...
I will make it more obvious next time that I am teasing with even more obvious sarcasm, forgive me guys for not being clear enough in the beginning.. no intentions on making lego look like a con artist...

Just draw a line through your info Cindy; the players that trades or buys it used can put their 411 on it. On discs I get in trade I always write, "tongue kisses horses," after the first owners name anyway.:nahnah:

I tried to call him an ass to his face only to find out that I called him an ass to his ass. :shocked:Ever seen his face? You really can't tell the difference. Actually it was really quite funny. Just imagine a guy bent over screaming at someones ass and making funny hand gestures. :blush:Those poor nuns will never be the same I'm sure. :whistler:

Anyway, as ol'Bob might say.......I digress!

Bob

ps......this post is purely a joke and should only be taken as a joke and not an attempt in any way to be taken seriously. Thank you!

I think the official forum rules should include: No Having Fun

That's the most fun rule to break.
