MORE disc golf apparel for LESS money? Is it true?
Thanks to feedback from our fans, we discovered something amazing – you want MORE disc golf apparel for LESS money. I know, shocking right? Hey, we love the idea too and are excited to offer ridiculously low prices - $10 cotton shirts and $12 dri-fits to go along with our already low $24 hoodies and free shipping on orders of $40 or more. What’s the catch you ask? Well, it took us a while to figure it out, but it is really quite simple.
When we launched DISC JOCK we followed a few simple guiding principles – lots of options, personality filled disc golf designs, and always in stock in all colors and sizes. It actually worked pretty well. In fact we have offered over 2,000 unique garment style/garment color/shirt design options and sold hundreds of shirts over the past 6 months. Unfortunately, this approach does not work well at our scale. It limited our shirt designs to a single ink color, forced us to offer shirts at higher prices than we wanted, and ended up being a lot more work than we anticipated. So how can we reduce prices by 60%? What are we doing differently?
In short, we are shifting from print-to-order to sell-when-printing. What does that mean exactly? In a nut shell it means that you can only order our shirts, when we are running a sale. These sales will coincide with larger non-disc jock print orders that we will be working on at the same time which will allow us to take advantage of free shipping offers for bulk orders from our vendors – a savings that we get to pass right on to you. This will also limit the number of times that we setting up a design for printing which will allow us to offer more colorful designs.
A lot of the details will be figured out as we move forward and see how well this works for our fans. For example, we can’t say how many designs will be available for purchase in each sale. We do know that our first sale will include 12 of our most popular designs, but future sales could be limited to 3 designs or maybe even just 1 new design. Also, we don’t know how often we will have our sales. It could be once a month, every few months, etc. We don’t even know how long the typical sale will be available, but anticipate it only being available for a few days with limited notice.
What we do know is that we still offer the widest range of garment and color options and our first sale runs from Today until Sunday @ midnight.
