I was talking with Justin Gross the other day and drooling over his disc collection when he told me about a couple of discs that he gave to "someone" for all the work that he has done this year. I totally agreed with him.
Got me thinking about making this very post.
We all know a bunch of people that do a ton of work, more or less, behind the scenes. These people are the real heart and soul of our sport. I want to take a moment and Thank that someone that I know of. I invite you to submit that someone that you know of too.
Three Cheers for Murray "The Brit" :yay: :yay: :yay:

I have to give a BIG kudos and thanks to Ben Squires of the North Idaho Disc Golf Club. He is the club president and put in countless hours with other club members to redesign a local course in a short time and he just TD'd the Farragut Open for this year which would not have happened if not for his efforts.
Also to Jack Wardian also of the NIDGC, club treasurer. Him and Ben put in countless and many thankless hours of time running club events and organizing and helping work parties. Nice work guys and everyone who does their part.

That almost makes up for the horrible atrocity that his loins have wrought upon the world. Siring a disc golfer (and an Idahoan) is simply the worst.

for mike phillips who works his butt off to build a great course on the west side (i like to think just for me ;)) and puts time and effort into nearly almost every tournament in some way... even if it's just running out real quick on a day off to write some checks...

Mike is like Portland's silent partner. People know who he is but as far as I have seen he does not step into the spotlight unless pushed. Definitely deserves some credit for his time and effort.

Paul Wright. Not only a 3x world champ, he has done more to build a foundation and organize the most organized WA club (WSDGA) than anybody around. Thanks Paul for all that you do!
I believe the rest of the WSDGA board members should all be on this list as well, I don't know them all, but Sammy Huff and Kenny Benjamin are makin' it happen on the West Side!

Jeff Hagerty. One of the most selfless and hard working men in our sport today. It would take much too long to describe all the ways he has helped our sport.

Thank you all for the kind words. I love this game and I love our community. It IS a labor of love, indeed.
Anyway, my vote goes to Jeff Mittl. It doesn't matter what course we are playing, he is always packing out some other inconsiderate idiot's empty cans.
Jeff
PS: You guys were spot on when you mentioned Mike Phillips, Murray Prictor and Carl T. Thorne. Those guys are MVPs for sure!

we're not voting, we're cheering! ;)
and i, too admire mittl's constant picking up after other less considerate disc golfing litter bugs, hucking sticks at the hillbilly chandeliers at milo and showing up to nearly every work party i've ever been to.
hip hip, hooray! hip, hip hooray! hip, hip hooray!
