Is there an address for this place to camp? I have a trailer that I may bring but considering the weather I may just bring a tent or sleep in the back of the truck. if i can get a look at a map of locations of courses and camping ,i can plan my weekend. Do we know which division are starting at which courses? Advanced Masters?

So the payout will follow the pdga scale. That will be awesome!

Hey guys, this is Randy Kirkpatrick, tournament director for the Tri-Cities Open Championship. I hope to be able to jump on here and answer as many questions as possible that come through the thread. So I'll just jump right into it, as for the extra $1000 added to places 2-5 in Men's Open It will be dispersed exactly like this. 2nd-$400/3rd-$300/4th-$200/5th-$100. This money will above and beyond the PDGA payout. Which if you were wondering for that division will be top 40%. Our club has done this to spread the wealth and relieve some of the drop off between 1st place and the rest of the top 5. With that being said there will probably be more than $4000 paid out in those top 5 with first still set at $2,000. In all other divisions we will be taking out the absolute smallest amount possible to break even for the player packs. Meaning, when you play in some events an AM buy in might be $40, and they may "value" the players pack at $20, taking that out of the "buy in" leaving $20 technically to go to the prize pool. We will not be running it this way. We will be setting the "value" of the players pack at exactly what they cost "us" per player. An example may be $40 buy in, our "cost" for player pack is technically "$10", leaving $30 to go to our prize pool, much more than normal. The payouts in Am divisions will be some of the best you will see, I guarantee it. I hope this has answered some of your questions and feel free to ask any more.

Anybody from Spokane down to hook up a ride there and back for this?

This is what the payout is supposed to look like when you pay 1st place $1,800. When you bump it to $2,000 these numbers should rise.. http://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/77589
Not a big fan of the 1 guy walks away with all the money payout. Not really what the game is about. This tournament example is following PDGA guidelines on payout using the scale which obviously you are not doing. You are well below that scale. After skins the top guy could walk away with $3000 and the guy who finished 2 strokes back in third has $300... I have heard a bunch of people talk about this and not a lot of people are really stoked on the lets pay one dude a huge chunk of cash deal. We've all been paying into the pot all year and let's have a tourney at the end and give it to one dude.. Now there may be a completely different payout for the series payouts and all of this money is raised from the club which I've got mad props for. I really wish the payout was done properly. I feel like you could guarentee $1,400 for men and $700 for Women and still grab some serious attention. Put that $900 in the pot as well and bring the others up where they should be on PDGA payout guidelines and EVERYBODY would be stoked. Heck the guy who wins could win a bunch of skins and still walk away with more than $2,000. Even if not $1,400 is NOTHING to complain about where as getting beaten by 1 in a playoff and getting $1,600 less, probably only walking away with $200 after paying for your entire weekend including entry fee is understandable.
I have to say with all this being said I know the thankless job deal about being a TD and it's super cool to see someone step up and try and blow it up big.. While winning and getting $2,000 sounds really cool when you get 5th and walk away with $500 or more you really have people's attention.

August 20th, 2012, 09:31 PM
yoduh, you misread the tournament directors post. he is not giving total payouts, he is ONLY talking about the EXTRA 1000 dollars is going to be dispersed between places 2-5. so that 300 dollars is on top of whatever the regular payout is going to be for 3rd place.

it always seems like you are just waiting and salivating for your next oppertunity to jump all over somebodies case. not very cool at all.

Golfanatic
August 20th, 2012, 11:52 PM
Ok, Just so there is no misunderstanding. TYVEK is correct, we will be paying out $1000 on top of the standard PDGA pay table. Meaning that if there were 40 pros (and I think there will be) Third place won't just be getting that $300. They will be getting somewhere close $360+the extra $300= a grand total of $660. If we get just a tad more than 40 players 5th will be around $500. Now this is just an example, but it is relative to how many people are in the field obviously. We will be spreading the wealth and the top 40% of Men's Open will be paid out. I hope this clears that up and let me know if you have any more questions, thanks.

P.S.- We already have players registering for this now and are drawing quite the attraction from some of the worlds best. Within the last few days a few awesome players signed up that have last names that rhyme with TrabCree and RusterShick;) Oh, YEahhhhh.

Got it. I see how I read it wrong. Thanks. That is much better. I would still like to see the money added to the whole payout. We all knew Crabtree would come. Cool that Will is showing up. Wonder who else want's to fight for the $2,000..:chinscratch:

THE MONEY SHOULD BE SHARED WITH ALL OPEN DIV.:headbang:

It's a fact that the 'other' PRO divisions usually don't get the same perks as the Open Men. It's always nice when we are considered, encouraged and rewarded for our efforts. However...as long as the TD is abiding by the PDGA rules for santioned tournaments and they are not going out of their way to slight the other PRO divisions they can spread the perks around anyway they want, right? It's always seemed like a good idea to keep the ladies and the old farts happy regardless ;-)

Our club is continuing sponsorship efforts and will be trying to give away as much as possible in this event. We will aim to "Add" something to almost every division based upon size. I will work on taking care of everyone and keep you updated as to what exactly those "additions" will be along the way. Sponsorship acquisition is a long and daunting task for an event this big but I am confident I can give everybody a piece of the disc golf pie. If anybody has a person/ company interested any ANY type of sponsorship please send them my way. Direct it to Randy Kirkpatrick crdiscgolf@gmail.com On a related note, Amerigas has just sponsored this tournament by purchasing 50 CFR discs!!!! Thank You, Amerigas.

I'm VERY pleased to announce that I will be at the tournament and doing ON SITE DISC DYEING!

I can ONLY do black dye when I'm ON-SITE, but if you'd like a colored design please feel free to contact me and we can arrange for it to be done before the tournament. I will need all requests in no later than September 15th to ensure I have time to complete them before the tournament!

If you'd like to view SOME of the designs I have available please go to www.DiscAddiction.com

If you want a design NOT on the site, please let me know and I'll work with you before I go to tri-city to get the design into my program so I can make it for you at tri-city.

The cost for an on-site dye will be $10 (a few of the harder ones will be $15) For your $10 I will take your dyeable disc and add a black design to it for you while you play.

Please keep in mind I can only do about 20 discs over a weekend tournament, so please come see me ASAP on Saturday to drop off your disc(s)!

I look forward to seeing those of you I met at ASC this year and meeting new players as well!!

IMPORTANT INFO-James J. Lawless Park will no longer be in the rotation to be played in this years Tri-Cities Open. Unfortunately we would not be able to make the course "Tournament Ready" in enough time. Players will now play a temporary course that will be set at Hansen Park located in Kennewick. If you are unfamiliar with the park it is fairly new which will allow for a "Grip it and rip it" course along with some sweet ace runs. The temp course will be up and running the day before the event to allow for any practice rounds. Also we are quickly up to 46 registered, growing more and more by the day! Here is the update http://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/97127/1671327900
Remember the first 100 non-open players will receive the FULL players pack, so sign up soon!

Tons of INFO-“Please Read” Ok, I’m just gonna jump right into this. Women’s Open Division Guaranteed $1k for first place will now be changed due to the pre-registration/attendance. We will now be ADDING $50 for each Women’s Open player registered with a guaranteed 1st prize of $300+ (even if there is still 1 player). The money will now be dispersed to other divisions throughout the tourney. We will now ADD $100 to every other Open Division for every 5 players registered in it. This of course does not include Men’s Open. Moving onto Doubles, this will be played at Two Rivers Park on Friday the 21st at 3PM SHARP! The format will be 2 divisions (Pro/Am) random draw, cost is $10 and 1$ Ace Pot. You can decide whether or not you would like in the Pro division which will be playing for cash with no fee taken from our club or play in the Am division which will be paid out in Final 9 Raffle tickets/ National Raffle/ Local Raffle. Let me explain further, our Final 9 will be a skins match with the 5 highest finishing men’s Open players and 5 lucky Am raffle winners. A Pro and Am will be matched up on a team to play alternate shot for the entire Skins amount for 9 holes, Pro drive on 5 Am drive on 4, which are pre-determined(We project over $150 a hole). The reason this will be done is to boost the final 9 skins and give Ams a shot at winning those tickets. Immediately following the doubles round a clinic will be held by Will Schusterick, Nikko Locastro, and Kyle Crabtree. It is entirely FREE and we hope you can all make it. Also there are just 2 spots left for that sweet VIP Experience on northwest signups. The field is now in at 76 and growing by the hourhttp://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/97127. You must be in the first 100 (non-open) to get a full players pack! The pools for the tourney with the course rotations will be set very soon and posted. Please let me know if you have any questions, I look forward to hosting an awesome event with some great northwest people. Randy Kirkpatrick, TD.

I know of a couple here who aren't on the list yet. One will not be and I think the other will get on.. I hope any who want a refund will be given it. I still can't wait to play this weekend!!

The original 1K guarantee for the Open Women's division was originally set when the date of the Tournament was on the 29th-30th (when more pro-women would've likely been available). The only registered Woman pro was contacted before the decision was made to change the payouts. We have to admit that the total number of players in Open men , and especially for Open woman, may be much lower than expected, and so the "guarantees" made will be out of proportion. The pro men guarantee remains the same, although it may turn out that it should have been around $1,400 for first place (if in the end the open division doesn't fill up for a large playing field). With the extra 1K added to places 2-5, any pros contemplating playing in the tournament should know that taking 4th or 5th place will still payout similar to many 1st/2nd place prizes in other tournaments (depending on how big the playing field turns out to be).

As a reminder, $50 will be added to the total payout in the Open Women's Division for EVERY player registered.

For a MapQuest address for Hansen Park, go ahead and type in "Hansen Park Fitness, 910 S Columbia Center Blvd, Kennewick, WA 99336" which is right next to the park.

The park is off of S Columbia Center Blvd, near the intersection of 10th Ave. and S Columbia Center Blvd. For those of you who are out of town, Columbia Center Blvd. can be taken North until Columbia Park Trail, and once a right turn is made, it will lead you to the Columbia Park DGC. To get to Two Rivers Park DGC from Hansen Park, if 10th Ave. is taken East all the way until you take a right on E. Chemical Drive (397), you will then take a left on E Finley Rd. and follow it until you reach Two Rivers Park (a left turn will be made on Glen Wheeler Lane). Google maps for these courses can be found on our site: http://crdiscgolf.com/courses.html

Randy has placed me at tournament central (2 rivers park) so if you have time to drop your discs with me Saturday morning before you t-off that would be GREAT!

I plan to arrive super early as to be as convenient as possible for those of you wanting to have your discs dyed.

It looks like I'll see the rec, juniors, and Int women Saturday morning --- Open and ADV men Sunday morning ---and all others after lunch on Saturday!!

www.DiscAddiction.com for the latest designs (I've added about 2 dozen this past 10 days)... I'm trying to update my photo book as well so you'll have access to the images at the park to select from as well.

I WON'T have internet at the park, so if you have a design request, PLEASE get those to me this week. I WILL have internet Saturday evening for anyone with a last minute request for their disc (as time permits)

The weather looks amazing and courses look fun, I can't wait *does a happy dance*

How many Women would have had to sign up to pay out $1,000? How many Men to pay $2,000? Those numbers would have set up the whole thing better. I would also say by Monday if you don't sign up Ams don't get players packs and that if all players aren't signed by Wed then it's $10 extra. If you play any major event (which is what you are trying to throw) the cutoffs really help the number crunching come out in the wash quicker. Everybody knows that you aren't going to fill so a bunch have saved their online entry fees and wait to pay the day of. I think their will be at least 4 Women. Probably 6 is the most likely number. The thing is though that if 6 or 8 women are signed up early then many more will get their interests peaked.. It's a weird phenomenon but I think to pull a ton of golfers you have to figure out a way to entice people to sign up early. WILL be interesting to see how many show up though fer sure!

I'll be driving down Saturday morning and I'd like to be able to drive right to the correct course.

Also, I'm thinking the players meeting will be at 8:30am. Is that correct?

So who was the big winner in skins then?

My memory might be a little shoddy so I'm open to corrections here... Will won the most at I believe 5 holes by barely edging Kyle in a 10 hole sudden death playoff. Big Mike gave up his spot which allowed Chris Waugh to play and win 3 skins (he nailed a HUUUGE putt early on for the $$). Kyle rounded it out with 1 skin.
I may be off a bit but I think that's about how it went. Apologies to the partners who I did not mention... you guys dug in hard to get that ca$h.

One of the more exciting moments: Nikko Hitting Chain (http://youtu.be/16Sh0o7dA3M)

Thanks to the TDs Randy, Kris and Kyle, and to the CRDGC for a really fun weekend. Quinn and I had a great time and it was pretty cool to watch many of Washington's best battle it out with Nikko and Will. For the second and third rounds I started on hole 18 which gave me front row seats to the lead card, lots of amazing shots! I managed to take a few hundred PICTURES (http://www.flickr.com/photos/edgepix/sets/72157631625725703/detail/) of the final 9, here are the cream of the crop. Not as many as the Johnson's *Jayden and JJ* ... LOL...

That was his 2nd this year (I believe) Shelton Springs with Kyle Crabtree and then here with Nikko.

I don't think anyone has mentioned that Nikko's ACE RUN was for a $825 skins push... SOOOOO close! It wouldn't have qualified for the CAR (yes an ace in skins would have won a CAR) since it was AFTER the first 9 skins holes... STILL such fun to watch!
